Maqsud Devdiwala, Founder/Owner, Max Kitchen - Indulge In Food

When it comes to restaurants, we are usually spoilt for choice and cuisine but one man plans to top that list of choices everytime...Maqsud Devdiwala and Max Kitchen ventured into the food business with small party orders in 2006. It was launched publicly at the annual events at the IIM , Nirma & later on in MICA , NID . Maqsud says "We were greatly encouraged by you(our patrons) when you made us the talk of the event, striking aside many other players from the food industry. Your support enabled us to dream big and that resulted in the establishment of our stand-alone restaurant, MAX KITCHEN - Indulge In Food, in 2007. We also specialize in outdoor catering, kitty - birthday parties, corporate parties, barbeque parties and so on."

Yourstory asked him what makes his Restaurant stand out among the others he replies "We, at Max Kitchen aim to provide you with good quality multi-cuisine food that stands out for its extraordinary presentation, mouth-watering taste and nutritional value!We believe in a unique blend of tradition and modernity as far as our culinary methods are concerned. We welcome you to indulge in a lavish eating experience, which has been appreciated by gourmets from far and wide."


Yourstory asked Maqsud how far the aroma of his food reaches and who benefits besides the obvious clients who eat he answered "We serve food at the Restaurant and also enable people to enjoy our food at their homes by delivering food at their door step. We also entertain Party orders. Our services are of course enjoyed by our valued customers. On an average 100 people turn up every day at our Restaurant”


“The immediate people benefiting from our organization are our staff. And of course, No organization can work without the support of ancillary units. With that, there are number of suppliers of various commodities who benefit from us because of our regular purchases from them.Differentiators of our business are Consistency of taste and regular innovations in Kebabs and Biryanis is our major USP. Good music and warm welcome adds to the USP.”


"In the competitive world, ‘out of sight is out of mind', so aggressive advertisement to increase our existing Guest list, and a constant and strong PR with our existing Guests is our strategy to scale-up our business. "


We asked Maqsud why he chose to be an entrepreneur in a line that is already very competitive he replies "Born in a business family, I guess, I could never see myself doing a 9-to-5 job. Moreover, I believe in the growth of people with my own growth so better to create employment for others rather than to be employed myself.


"As we all know, being successful is difficult but continuing on that position demands more effort than reaching there. So, the challenge is not to reach a respectable level but to stay there for long. ' Masqud obvioulsy does not mince his words when he says "Calculative steps with determination and hard work and never say die attitude helps one to overcome all difficulties. This is exactly what I do when I face challenges.'


Maqsud also sheepishly admitted to Yourstory that he has fumbled a bit "Well, I was born with a business mind but surely not with a technical one. So the mistake I made as an amateur was to fit a wrong variety of Exhaust mechanism for the Kitchen which made me incur huge expenses.” But that little setback did not deter him as he kept trying to keep his sources of capital limited and less expensive, his major capital comes from his own funds and family funds; along with some help from banks that are encouraging young entrepreneurs.


Maqsud elaborated on his present status saying "No. of employees are 15 and as of now, I have kept it limited to one outlet only, but with the grace of Allah, we shall soon bring you good news. When we see our valued Guests walking in frequently.,it brings immense sense of satisfaction, motivation and achievement. "


"Different people feel recognized in different ways. For me, seeing my Guests enter again in the Restaurant and walking out with a broad smile is the main recognition that I look forward to for Nothing Else Matters! : )"


He says that he stays focused and never loses hope as an entrepreneur. He explains "I am a Sagittarian by birth and probably thats what makes me dislike a monotonous life. Adventure and rollercoaster rides make my life fun and worth living. "By 2010 he plans to widen the area of operations by developing more branches across the city and gradually across the state. Maqsud also says to entreprenurs “budding entrepreneurs, all I have to say is don't get disappointed by initial difficulties and failures. Put in efforts for 1000 days to know the level of your success.” Yourstory wishes Maqsud success and bon appetit in all his culinary ventures...
