You have the right idea for your business. You have recognized your target. You are focused on making your service ubiquitous and coping with growing pains. You equate success with managing the customer experience. You want to be unique.
The myth in the valley is if you want to start a business, you have to be different from the very beginning. Not true at all. Out-executing the competition to get to parity and then innovating to trump competition works very well too.
Come join Gurbaksh Chahal and Lyle Fong as they discuss how ideas are overrated and how one can compete on execution.

Gurbaksh is a die-hard internet entrepreneur. In January 1999, he started his first company, ClickAgents at the age of 16. It was one of the first ad networks focused around performance based advertising. Eighteen months later he sold it for $40 million to ValueClick
In January 2004, he launched his second company, BlueLithium. The company was focused on data, optimization, and analytics and became a pioneer of behavioral targeting. BlueLithium was named one of the top 100 private companies in America three years in a row by AlwaysOn, and in 2006, it received highest honor as Top Innovator of the Year. (Previous winners included Google, Skype, and Salesforce.com.) On September 4th, 2007, Yahoo! announced that it was acquiring BlueLithium for $300 million in cash.
He has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Bonnie Hunt, EXTRA, Neil Cavuto, among others, and has been profiled in such publications as The New York Times, Entrepreneur magazine, and The San Francisco Chronicle.
Chahal is also an international best selling author of "The Dream," the true to life inspirational tale of his entrepreneurial journey. In September 2009, Chahal launched, gWallet, a virtual currency platform for social media.
Lyle is responsible for the strategic direction and corporate vision at Lithium. He assumed the role of CEO in December, 2006.
Prior to starting Lithium Technologies, Lyle co-founded GX Media, where he was the CTO. He drove the development of Gamers.com, which was rated the #1 independent gaming portal by Nielsen NetRatings. Lyle was instrumental in raising a total of $15M in funding led by CMGI, negotiating multi-million dollar technology licensing deals with Dell, Sony, AltaVista, and Ziff-Davis, and spearheading the spin-off of Lithium Technologies. Lyle was also the driving force behind the creation of technologies for professional gaming, including a global rankings system, tournament engine, and a real-time match reporting and spectating system. These technologies were the key success factors behind the AMD PGL, the most successful and highly acclaimed professional gaming league to date with over 100 million media impressions, and also numerous tournaments for Sega.
Before Lithium Technologies and GX Media, Lyle launched two other startups - a specialized computer services business which has since expanded into one of the largest ISPs in China and a software consulting business, NetStreams.
Lyle studied at UC Berkeley, majoring in Computer Science, where he received the Hewlett-Packard Scholarship Award and National Youth Leadership Award.
