[YS TV] Quick Pitches from Qualcomm QPrize Winners: Deck Apps and Uber Labs

[YS TV] Quick Pitches from Qualcomm QPrize Winners: Deck Apps and Uber Labs

Monday November 12, 2012 , 2 min Read

Qprize 2012

Qualcomm announced the winners of its QPrize in mid-October this year. Two very promising startups- Deck Apps and Uber Labs took the First and Second Prize respectively. They've been in the limelight since then and here we catch up with the founders in a quick pitch about their products.Deck

Founded by Sumanth Raghavendra, an IIM Bangalore alumnus, and Ravi Kasthuri, Deck allows anyone to easily create and deliver presentations on any device, without the need of complex design skills.

Their claim to fame:

Over 30 million presentations are created every day, yet the vast majority of these are dull, uninspiring and poorly designed (pain) that bored audiences need to endure (annoyance).
Also, as the world increasingly moves towards a post-PC reality where mobile devices are increasingly replacing laptops as the computing device of choice, there is a great opportunity to create a mobile-first presentation application that leverages the unique capabilities of these instruments to help users create and deliver compelling presentations on the go (opportunity).

Uber Labs- gazeMetrix

Co-Founded by Deobrat Singh, Saurabh Paruthi and Debayan Banerjee, GazeMetrix is a product from UberLabs that lets you know when and where your brand was photographed across social media.

Their claim to fame:

Pictures are now the 'in' thing. With shrinking attention spans, pictures are getting more attention as compared to text and analyzing them makes much more sense to know how the consumer/user is thinking.
Disruptive in nature, using proprietary computer vision and machine learning algorithms, gazeMetrix accurately analyzes pictures to identify brand metrics.
