Aiming to take Indian startups to Silicon Valley through Startup Idea - Allen Perumal, Founder, Creative Web Systems
A few months ago, Allen Peru had sent a Facebook message, “We are planning startup conference in 11 cities around the world. Can we do event for startup coming August in Chennai for http://startupidea.org/?” The site speaks of connecting founders and funders, and building a platform for budding entrepreneurs to convert their start up ideas from dream to reality in the field of information technology. The ‘process’ outlined in the site is of interest, beginning with ‘inspired speaker,’ progressing through ‘startup pitch’ and ‘voting for the best startups,’ before ending with ‘people get together’.After the Chennai event, I asked Allen about his initiative. “Startup Idea India has started in Chennai, with this event. It’s going to be next in Bangalore and a few other cities.” Allen, who is into search engine optimisation, is the founder of Creative Web Systems, based in San Francisco. He reminisces that, in the Valley, he does not see many Indian startups pitching their ideas. “There are so many developers working at the back-end of the development. Here, we have so many startups with so many ideas. My goal is to take Indian startups from here to Silicon Valley.”
Startup Idea plans to organise regular events that allow one-on-one interaction between the founders (designers and engineers), and funders (angel investors). “These events are a win-win situation for everyone involved, i.e. entrepreneurs, investors and startup idea. Through these events, entrepreneurs get a chance to present their ideas to potential investors and get necessary funds. The investors get the opportunity to become a part in the development of a great idea, while startup idea gets the satisfaction in helping out creative and aspiring entrepreneurs in their quest. It’s a perfect setting for everyone to learn from and help out each other selflessly.”
