Monday July 20, 2015 , 2 min Read

The Delhi government announced that a 'Job Summit' would be organised next month in which 25 private companies would offer opportunities to around 1,500 youths. The summit will begin on August 1 and conclude on August 11. The government will also launch a job portal at the event that will offer a platform to job seekers to upload their resume and employers to update vacancies in their companies.

The concluding session of the summit will be held at Shah Auditorium on August 11 where selected applicants will be offered jobs. Close to 1,500 vacancies are available for jobs like security guards, attendants, helpers, housekeeping, tele- callers, financial planning advisors, drivers, peons and data entry operators among others, officials said.

According to PTI, the Employment department will hold a counselling session with interested applicants and provide them job letters after verifying their documents and qualifications at its four centers, officials said. These centres are: District Employment Exchange at R K Puram, Viswas Nagar (Institutional Area), Kirby Place (Delhi Cantt) and I A R I Complex (Pusa).

The department had contacted candidates who had registered themselves with it. Around 40,000 applicants showed interest. The applicants will be shortlisted as per their qualification and over 1,500 people will be given jobs, the officials said. "Final offer letter will be given on August 11 at a public event at Shah Auditorium. We will ensure applicants get minimum pay. To extend the benefit to more people, we will launch a website," Delhi Employment Minister Gopal Rai said.

The government has also launched a helpline number (011-22389393) for the Job Summit to assist job seekers.
