Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that every department of the state government should come forward and initiate skill development programmes to train the youth. Khattar described Haryana Skill Development Mission as an important milestone to achieve the objective of providing skill training to the youth as per growing needs of the industry and make them employable.

The Chief Minister further said that concept of education should be "job-oriented" rather than "certificate-oriented". He said that industries as well as entrepreneurs should also work on skill development and facilitate the trainees. State's Transport Department can start skill development programme in driving and mechanical stream. Likewise, Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and other departments could also start training programmes, he said.

According to PTI, a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) was also signed between Haryana Skill Development Mission and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Haryana Mission Director and UNDP Country Director Jaco Cilliers signed the agreement on behalf of Haryana and UNDP respectively, an official release said.

As a result of the collaboration, Multi Skill Development Centres will be established to offer short-term National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) compliant skill courses. The courses would be designed keeping in view the skill gap analysis report pertaining to Haryana, which has been prepared by National Skill Development Corporation. It will also encourage women empowerment with a target to provide skill training and entrepreneurship to about 10,000 women in next two years.

The Mission aims to coordinate, converge and deliver quality skill training to youth to make them self-reliant and to enhance their employability. It will also bridge the skill deficit with a view to meet burgeoning market demands locally and globally for skilled manpower, the release said.
