Clash of the prints
Prints are a great way to make your outfit eye-catching and make a fashion statement on an otherwise stressful workday. The fashion runway world has caught onto the fun of the prints this season! We often shy away from pairing prints with prints. But this fall, it’s all about the clash of the prints. Mix them and play with them to create some matching yet unmatched style. Concept Korea showed that mixed mediums can be used in monochrome colours as well. If you are afraid of prints, you can start small and use it in accessories first before going all bold!
Turtlenecks
They are back! We have been familiar with turtlenecks for so long, and they have survived their hiatus and are back on the runway this season as the lead layering piece. They were seen worked into long sleeve dresses and also used as a neckline for various knit/oversized dresses. Pair it with a neckpiece or a knockout coat to add a tinge of glam to your everyday office wear.
Pantsuits to powersuits
They have been considered yesteryear for so long! But this fall they have received a much needed fashion update. Designers like J.Crew, Zimmermman and Christian Sirriano showcased pantsuits in their collection. Slim, stylish and often colourful, these are the new power suits in town.
The many faces of ‘pink’
The colour palette of pink dominated the runway this season. From the lightest shade of pink to the bright bold neon, we saw the right mix of shades of pinks in different silhouettes. Pink can smoothly find its place in your office wardrobe if you know how to carry it right. Give your power dressing some bright and fun twist.
Mixed menswear fabrics
Don’t we always just love to borrow from the men’s closet? It was a treat to see various checks, usually presented in menswear like herringbones and glen plaids, mixed together in the Michael Kors Collection, Derek Lam and Calvin Klein collection runways. The idea of a ‘girlboss’ just strikes a chord with this trend easily. So office friendly!
Everything flared
Flared jeans are nothing new to us. What was exciting to see, however, was two flares paired together like a breath of fresh air. The pairing of a sweeping coat and a waving cropped pants at Creature of the Wind felt like a match made in heaven. Also present were capri pants and wide flared pants. Pair it with blouses and jackets, a neckpiece and your business look is complete.
Going white all the way
A head-to-toe look in a pure white shade stands out for its serenity in the trend-led luxury market. WGSN called the move a return to the basics with a range of pencil skirts, dresses and blazers in white showcased. Collections from Beaufille, Zero + Maria Cornejo and Oscar de La Renta went all ahead with white.
The Bright Hues
Shades of orange, yellow, wine, merlot burgundy, deep grape and khaki green won hearts this time around. Breath-taking red was on display from head to toe in collections from Banana Republic, Prabal Gurung and Alice + Olivia.
Go ahead! Spice up your work wardrobe!
