TechSparks has been an amazing journeyand a rewarding experience for all involved. Over the last six years, YourStory’s TechSparks event has brought out 30 top-notch technology startups every year. Some of the TECH30 almuni include Capillary, Moonfrog Labs, Loginext, Freshdesk, Niki.ai, Heckyl and more. Of the 180 companies that have pitched till now, 97 have gone on to raise funding to scale their venture and cumulatively have raised more than $630 million. This year, we got close to 3,000 applications from a wide range of sectors and all across India. And from those, we’ve picked out 30 companies.

  • ACPAD

Founded by a team of engineers and a musician, ACPAD is a thin universal wireless MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) controller that can be attached to almost any acoustic guitar, bridging the gap between acoustic and electronic music. It is a cost-effective and user-friendly option for guitarists to add tonal versatility to their music. ACPAD doesn’t change the natural way a guitarist plays his instrument; it just adds MIDI controls and sensitive pads close to his or her fingertips.

  • Algo Engines

Algo Engines uses machine learning to provide operational intelligence such as real-time monitoring, performance analytics, accurate energy forecasts and failure prediction for the wind, solar and hydro-electric segments of the energy industry. Algo acquired its first customer in 2014 and already supports over 2,500MW of wind and solar capacity across India, Thailand, The Philippines and Japan.

  • AntCrawl Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

AntCrawl’s flagship product ProgressHive creates progressive web applications (the next stage for web/app development) for enterprises. It is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product that helps businesses build new-age apps that are connectivity-independent, meaning the web app can work offline and even in low network zones. Currently in beta, AntCrawl is a promising company for the future.

  • AutoVRse

AutoVRse builds virtual reality (VR) software for the automotive industry to be deployed both at the design stage as well as at key customer touch points, such as the showroom. The company currently offers two solutions. The first is the AutoVRse Design Studio, a visualisation software that aims to replace physical prototypes and helps evaluate 3D models at scale. The second solution, Virtual Showroom, helps potential car buyers interact with the full range of car variants and colours in a showroom environment.

  • Azooka

Azooka Life Sciences (Azooka) is India’s only speciality fluorescent dye company. Its first product tinto rang™ has zero toxicity, mutagenicity, and is non-hazardous, as it was developed from a plant that has traditionally been used as a food additive. Azooka’s tinto rang™ is a food-grade DNA and RNA stain in the world that doesn’t alter the structure of the DNA and it can thus be used for multiple tests.

  • BendFlex

BendFlex Research and Development Pvt. Ltd specialises in designing devices using a novel design paradigm called compliant mechanisms. BendFlex is pioneering the concept of using the mechanical properties of individual biological cells in medical diagnostics. Having worked on two products already, the company’s current focus is on a device that will revolutionise the way in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) is done.

  • Citizengage

Citizengage is a technology company operating an end-to-end waste management platform. The company preserves the value of waste at source and connects communities, businesses, waste collectors, energy producers, and recyclers through transparent transactions. Citizengage’s efforts help reduce landfill use, power clean energy, and build recycling economies.

  • Cloudrino

Cloudrino aims to simplify its customers’ server needs. It provides users with a graphical management console to manage their cloud servers without any platform or Operating System dependencies. Cloudrino also provides Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and specialises in High Availability (HA) architecture.

  • Conexstra

Conexstra’s INDONIS platform leverages mobile, web, cloud and big data technologies to collate the intellectual capital of its workforce. This knowledge repository helps create an ‘innovative workplace’ that is agile and benefits all stakeholders. INDONIS provides a knowledge universe by connecting every employee of the organisation onto a single platform.

  • Crofarm

Crofarm’s business credo is F2B – from Farm to Business. The company’s aim is to build a technology powered supply chain that supports farmers and provides businesses with the freshest produce in the most efficient manner. Crofarm aims to change the way food retailers procure the produce. The tech platform will help farmers take their produce to market faster, thus improving realisations and minimising wastage. For retailers, it will mean getting better quality produce at better prices.

  • Glydel

Glydel is focussed on changing the way people ‘experience’ cab travel in India, from both the user as well as the service provider’s perspective. The IoT-based Travel Operating System is built to empower SME cab companies to run more profitable and measured businesses that can easily scale regionally or nationally.

  • Hansel.io

Hansel.io allows mobile developers to instantly deploy hotfixes to their live mobile apps, during run time, without the need for users to update the app. The company aims to remove the fear of deployment among developers and change the way mobile development and management currently works.

  • Hasura

Based on open standards, Hasura is a platform for developers to build web and mobile applications fast. It helps companies build scalable architecture by abstracting out the backend (database, authentication etc.) and development and operations (micro-service architecture, containerisation etc.) modules of software building. It helps set up enterprise-grade architecture with a few clicks.

  • Horntell

Horntell allows brands to send actionable notifications through their mobile apps and websites. Horntell’s notifications, called Cards, allow embedding of rich content as well as the intended action within them.

  • HyperTrack

HyperTrack offers location tracking as a service. The company helps developers worldwide focus on building location tracking features, not infrastructure. HyperTrack reduces the complexity of building a continuous location tracking infrastructure to few easy API calls that just work.

  • Indian TTS

Indian TTS is a Text-to-Speech system for regional Indian languages. The company has built Hindi and English Text-to-Speech APIs that can be integrated with IVR software and accessed on any kind of communication machine or device.

  • InfiSecure

InfiSecure is a robust web security platform to detect and block online security threats. It enables online businesses to fine-tune control over bot traffic on their websites. The service bundles all aspects of website security, including bot protection, click fraud protection and fake traffic prevention.

Inventrom’s offering Bolt is an Internet of Things platform (Hardware +Cloud) that enables enterprises and manufacturers to build scalable IoT products and services. Bolt's small yet highly functional prototyping board and intuitive product building experience help to build prototypes within days, and with minimal cost and manhours.

  • KrypC

KrypC Technologies (KrypC) is a blockchain middleware company. The team has created a B2B platform to ease adoption and usage of blockchain even as the space is evolving. The company is soon releasing their middleware platform called KrypCore that addresses the threads of enterprise resistance to blockchain with layers on middleware.

  • Leado

Leado helps startups and SMEs scale their business by automating and integrating customer journeys through their lifecycle. In other words, Leado allows optimisation of workflows in simple ‘IF This-Then-That’ format. No coding required. Leado helps to automate customer journeys and apply complex business rules on top of them, resulting in lower customer acquisition costs, faster turnaround times, and improved sales conversions.

  • Lucep

‘Prospect to Customer in 5 minutes flat’ is the promise that Lucep makes to its customers. The company’s focus is on helping businesses improve conversion rates of their online prospects, with the use of artificial intelligence. Small to medium businesses typically use their websites only as a lead acquisition channel, with most conversions happening offline. Lucep acts a ‘set and forget’ tool that directly sends leads from the company’s website to the mobile phones of its sales teams.

  • Crediwatch Information Analytics Pvt. Ltd. (previously Minoty)

CrediWatch is a platform that provides data regarding risk analysis to corporations. CrediWatch curates information about a certain company or registered institution from the Internet to provide intelligence. It picks up data from 25,000 different points—which the company claims is the highest in the industry—from already existing information in the regulatory framework. The intelligence can further be deployed for risk management and analysis, diligence and credit ratings.

  • MphRx

MphRx Inc. is a healthcare technology company based in New York, with R&D, support and implementation teams based out of New Delhi. The company was founded with the aim of building a scalable, cost-effective and highly interoperable platform to aggregate healthcare data from disparate sources and improve patient engagement and care collaboration. MphRx enables sending of patient information from any desktop or mobile device to the hospitals where it can be automatically assimilated into any health data repository.

  • Navstik Autonomous Systems Pvt. Ltd.

Navstik Labs is building an operating system for commercial drones (http://flytbase.com). This allows developers to integrate drones with their business applications for a variety of use-cases, such as precision agriculture, industrial inspections, surveys, deliveries, emergency responses etc. Navstik has customers in 12+ countries, and has received strong testimonials and endorsements from industry leaders.

  • Ongrid

OnGrid is the flagship brand of startup HandyOnline Solutions Pvt. Ltd. It leverages the unique nature of the Aadhaar number and related digital technologies to make data and documents inter-operable and portable. It also reduces the cost and turnaround time for identity establishment, Know Your Customer (KYC), reputation establishment, and background verification, and increases trust and accountability.

  • Oriano Clean Energy Pvt. Ltd.

Oriano specialises in clean technology solar solutions. The company makes solar energy affordable and accessible to the mass market, and helps reduce harmful greenhouse gases (GHGs). Oriano offers customised, turnkey solar EPC installations to help consumers reduce their energy costs and bring down their carbon footprint.

  • Orvito Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Orvito Technologies invents, manufactures and markets products such as wireless smart switch panels for lighting control and automation and wireless surveillance cameras for the connected smart home market. The patented products are designed and developed by an in-house team of hardware, software and mechanical engineers. Orvito’s customer segments are residential property builders and individual villa owners, SME corporate offices and the hospitality industry.

  • Planys Technologies

Planys Technologies is an IIT-Madras incubated company providing customised robotic solutions to the marine, oil & gas, civil structures, environmental monitoring and defence sectors. Its technology spans the domains of marine robotics, advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and post-inspection analysis tools. The company’s remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) typically provide underwater inspection and survey solutions in the shallow-mid depth segment (upto 300 metres).

  • Realbox Data Analytics

Realbox Data Analytics uses business intelligence and predictive analysis tools to help offline businesses increase revenues and decrease risk. Their signature product, Pulse, provides decision- makers business summaries and key performance metrics on their mobile devices in real time, helping them remain agile and in control of their businesses.

  • Soul Vision Creations Pvt. Ltd.

Soul Vison’s Style My Looks app works on the finding that a significant proportion of apparel purchases are made through an ‘online discovery-offline purchase’ model because online platforms do not offer the personalised ‘look and fit evaluation’ experience that offline stores allow. They have a product via which brands can package and push their offering in an efficient manner while the customers get the ease of use and a better experience.
