Everything you wanted to know about Mukesh Ambani's new Jio offer
Starting December 4, 2016, every new Jio user will get a full bouquet absolutely free until March 31 under Jio Happy New Year offer.
This announcement was made today by Reliance Industry Limited’s Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani while addressing employees and stakeholders.
“Existing users will continue to enjoy the benefit of free usage under Happy New Year offer from January 1 to March 31. We will double digitally-enabled stores for eKYC to four lakh nationwide by March,” he said. More than 95 percent of the activations are being done in a paperless manner through eKYC.
Jio customers have made 900 crore voice calls in three months and continue to monitor interconnect issues with other telecom players, he added.
Jio now fully supports mobile number portability, and will soon start home delivery of SIMs.
Jio has approximately 50 million customers -- achieved in just 83 days of its launch. The average rate of addition of six lakh subscribers per day is the fastest achieved by any technology company in the world, including the likes of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Skype. the Jio customer was using 25 percent more data on an average.
Reportedly, Airtel reached the same milestone of notching 50 million subscribers in 12 years, Vodafone and Idea took 13 years each.
According to the company, the Jio customer was using 25 percent more data on an average.
Reliance had launched Jio on September 5, offering unlimited access to HD voice calls (on Jio eligible VoLTE phones), messaging, video calls, 4G data along with access to Jio's suite of apps till December 31. According to reports, Jio had also introduced Aadhaar-based paper-less Jio SIM activation across 3,100 cities and towns in the country.
Jio Money and Jio Money Merchant Solution
According to the company, Jio is committed to support the growth of a digitally-enabled, optimal-cash economy in India. “One of the key drivers for adoption of Digital Money and Cashless way of living is people’s ability to convert physical cash into digital cash and vice-versa. In order to make this possible, JioMoney is rapidly expanding its reach to millions of touch points where Aadhar-based micro ATMs will be deployed,” it said in a Press release.
Jio also announced the launch of the Jio Money Merchant Solution. This solution provides access to Jio’s suite of services, including customised offerings such as digital money, for a very important segment of the Indian economy. This will enable digital transactions of all types, whether they be at mandis, small shops, restaurants, railway ticket counters, for bus and mass transit and even for person-to-person money transfers.
Jio believes that this offering will contribute significantly in realising the government’s vision of transitioning to a cashless economy.
