21-year-old Delhi engineering student bags Rs 1.25cr per annum offer from Uber

Among all their four years of college, recruitment season is the most stressful time for engineering students. This placement season, however, has brought one student a great deal of happiness. Sidharth Raja, a 21-year-old computer science engineering student from Delhi Technological University (DTU), has received a job offer of Rs 1.25 crore per annum from the United States-based cab services company Uber.

Sidharth has done his schooling from Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj. His father has a job as a planning consultant and his mother is a freelance transcriber. Sidharth passed the 12th standard exams with 95.4 percent and cracked the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) to earn his place in DTU.

Sidharth has been offered the software engineer position at Uber's San Francisco office. His Rs 1.25 crore package has two components which include a basic salary of Rs 71 lakh and other benefits that sum up to the total amount. While speaking to the Hindustan Times about his placement, he said,

It was a delight to have received the job offer and I am now looking forward to moving to San Francisco. I had actually done a seven-week internship with Uber earlier. So this is a pre-placement offer that I have received. Along with me, I think there is someone from one of the IITs.

Sidharth elaborated more on his job offer and future plans while talking with PTI. He said,

I am looking forward to grooming my technological skills at Uber before I begin brainstorming on my startup plan which I see as a long-term goal.

According to PTI, this is the second highest offer that has been made to a DTU student. Earlier, Chetan Kakkar from the 2015 batch had been offered an annual salary of Rs 1.27 crore by search giant Google.
