Gautam Gambhir launches Community Kitchen #1 to feed the needy and poor

Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is winning hearts with his new initiative. Community Kitchen #1, is a social enterprise spearheaded by him to feed the poor and hungry through the Gautam Gambhir Foundation. He took to Twitter, to inform his fans about the same,

Won World Cups, one IPL, beaten opponents. Now time 2 win hearts & beat hunger. Community Kitchen #1 by Gautam Gambhir Foundation. Compassion in my heart, a plate in my hand & a prayer on my lips ‘No one should sleep hungry.

Launched in Delhi, the first community kitchen was set up in Patel Nagar. The player intends to serve the needy and poor who crave for one good meal a day, through this initiative, said an Indian Express report. He further added,

365 days, 52 weeks, 12 months, numerous hungers & Ek Asha #communitykitchen1 #ggf

Following the announcement, Gambhir has been receiving massive support from his fans. Even Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan joined in by offering his support. He tweeted:

Let me know my Captain how I can be of use to ur initiative. Bless u.

In response, Gambhir replied,

Well, this is not the first time the cricketing legend has come forward to make an impact. In April this year, he pledged to cover the expenses of 25 CRPF personnel who were killed in an ambush by Maoists in the Sukma attack in Chhattisgarh, as reported by the Financial Express report. The left-handed batsman who was visibly disturbed by the attack stood in solidarity with the defence personnel.
