Edtech startup GreyAtom raises $1M from Pravega Ventures

Edtech startup GreyAtom raises $1M from Pravega Ventures

Thursday January 25, 2018 , 2 min Read

GreyAtom plans to use the funds raised to enhance technology, grow the team, and create personalised learning paths.

Edtech startup GreyAtom has raised $1 million in a funding round led by early-stage fund Pravega Ventures. GreyAtom is a boot camp-style immersive learning programme for Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. Aspirants learn technologies by working on real problem statements, and datasets from GreyAtom’s industry partners.

Founded by Shweta Doshi, Mitul Thakkar, and Mayuresh Shilotri in February 2017, GreyAtom has onboarded 35 companies to be industry partners, empanelled 41 certified instructors, and had over 450 students under various programmes.

GreyAtom is now building “Commit.Live”, a homegrown cloud-based learning platform that ensures learning stays practice centered, personally meaningful, and social at the same time. The product empowers a student with deep qualitative insight into the learning progress with metrics like code efficiency and adherence to industry standards.

The GreyAtom team

Mitul said, “Modern employers are interested whether a prospective hire will be able to solve a real-world problem, and are less concerned with pedigree. As a result, learning outcomes become more critical when teaching engineering disciplines. A mix of online-offline blended approach is the way forward. We have built a product Commit.Live where students log in to solve real-world problems based on real data provided by industry partners. Not just a single faculty, but the whole ecosystem is harvested for the benefit of aspirants.”

Commenting on the funds raised, Mitul added,

“We will be pumping in funds in two areas - technology and ecosystem. With Commit.Live, we are building an AI-enabled learning platform which will provide deep qualitative insight into a learner's journey. We will further strengthen our ecosystem of quality instructors, hiring partners and academia."

Rohit Jain, Partner at Pravega Ventures said, “Commit.Live brings a fresh perspective to education by enabling a compelling learning experience. Commit.Live balances the adherence of traditional training and mixing best of modern academia. The team at GreyAtom is experienced and fanatic about driving learning outcomes for students and organisations looking to upskill workforce.”

The global data science platform market is poised to grow at a CAGR of around 39.2 percent over the next decade to reach approximately $385.2 billion by 2025.
