Bhavish Aggarwal’s journey from pitching the Ola app to making it to TIME’s most influential list
In 2011, when the ecommerce boom was picking up in India, a young entrepreneur pitched his product and idea to a large audience at YourStory’s eSparks. This entrepreneur was none other than Bhavish Aggarwal. Back then, Ola was trying break into the taxi market, primarily dominated by Meru Cabs and the kaali-peelis in Mumbai.
“Cabs and taxis are still a market that needs to be disrupted. The problem will be solved by smartphones and technologies like GPS. We are leveraging new technology,” said Bhavish. In 2011, Ola and Bhavish had just begun their journey.
