Salesforce completes its acquisition of MuleSoft, announced in March 2018

Thursday May 03, 2018 , 2 min Read

The American cloud computing giant Salesforce, headquartered in San Francisco, California, has completed its acquisition of MuleSoft, an integration platform that connects SaaS and enterprise applications in the cloud and on-premise.

Salesforce has made Customer Relationship Management (CRM) cloud-based and easy-to-use for small businesses and large-scale enterprises.

The acquisition was originally announced in March and is the biggest in Salesforce’s history. The firm paid $6.5 billion in cash and stocks for MuleSoft, which had gone public in 2017.

Headquartered in San Francisco, MuleSoft was founded in 2006 by Ross Mason and Dave Rosenberg.

The chairman and CEO of MuleSoft Greg Schott said, “By joining Salesforce, we have a tremendous opportunity to realize our vision for the application network. Our team is excited about accelerating MuleSoft’s mission to connect any application, data, and device by building innovative products that enable our customers’ continued success.”

MuleSoft has a platform called Anypoint Platform which is enabling more than 1,200 organisations across 60 countries to build application networks. According to the statement released by the company, MuleSoft’s Anypoint Platform will also be part of Salesforce’s Integration Cloud. “It will enable all enterprises to surface their data – regardless of where it resides – to deliver intelligent, connected customer experiences across all channels and touchpoints.”

With MuleSoft, Salesforce plans to accelerate customers’ digital transformations, “enabling them to unlock data across legacy systems, cloud apps, and devices to make smarter, faster decisions and create highly differentiated, connected experiences for their customers.”

Salesforce Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff said, “Every company is undergoing a digital transformation and integration has never been more strategic.” He added, “Now with MuleSoft, Salesforce will enable customers to connect all of the information throughout their enterprise across all public and private clouds and data sources – radically enhancing innovation. I am thrilled to welcome MuleSoft to the Salesforce Ohana.”
