At the Goa IT Day, discover how the state is working to be featured among Asia’s top 25 startup destinations
Globally acknowledged as the star on India’s tourist map, the state of Goa is now on a mission to showcase its other side– as the new favourite destination for IT companies. Goa IT Day is part of a focused initiative to promote innovation and encourage entrepreneurial investment in the state so that Goa can be counted among the top 25 startup destinations in Asia by 2025.
The event is being held on July 14 and 15 in Panjim, and will be inaugurated by Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Minister for Revenue, IT, Labour & Employment, Shri Rohan Khaunte.
Day 1 of the event will see exciting conversations and discussions around a diverse range of topics, including e-governance, digital economy, ideas and innovation in the IT world, AI and ML solutions, and cybersecurity in Goa, to name just a few. The highlight of the day is a fireside chat moderated by Shradha Sharma, YourStory Founder & CEO. Participating in the chat are the Hon’ble CM Shri Parrikar, Minister Shri Khaunte and Chairman of Manipal Global Education Services & Aarin Capital Mohandas Pai. There will also be other interesting discussions around the digital transformation of governance to bring about greater transparency and efficiency.
Also in store are workshops conducted by tech giants Google and Facebook on how to build a world class product and the basic hygiene of digital marketing,
The second day will see Union Minister, Electronics and Information technology, Law and Justice, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad joining Shri Manohar Parrikar for the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Later, the Goa IT Policy and Schemes will be formally launched, which will be followed by Signing of MoUs and the inauguration of the STPI Goa Centre.
On the occasion, Amit Dubey (Deputy CTO, Tech Mahindra), Indranil Sinha (Director, Intel) will be among the industry leaders who will deliver keynote addresses.
Home to a number of renowned educational institutions such as BITS Pilani, Goa and Goa Institute of Management, the student community also forms important part of the ecosystem. With this in mind there are specific sessions for students. This includes a panel discussion on challenges students face in establishing a startup between student entrepreneurs Yashraj Bharadwaj, Keerthan Shankar and Sunny Kabrawala. The discussion will be moderated by Startup India Foundation Chairman Anil Chhikara. This will be followed by a discussion on career opportunities in Digital Media, the Role of Innovation in Nation Building and Connected Cars. There is a special series for developers too, which will include talks from Siddharth Ashok, Prajyot Mainkar and Abhishek Prabhu. The topics include Building for the ‘Next India’ and a Tech Talks with Techies.
