NITI Aayog announces MoveHack 2018 with Rs 2 Cr in prizes to help solve India's transportation, mobility issues
Transportation and mobility are emerging as potential drivers of innovation and economic growth in the 21st century. Rapidly evolving technologies, and business models to deliver mobility services, have the potential to transform the global transportation sector.
Mobility, which ranges from pedestrian and personal transport, to public transit and freight movement, is critical and impacts every aspect of life in urban as well as rural areas.
Of late, there has been a paradigm shift, which has led to an integrated approach that focuses on shared, connected, and clean mobility solutions customised to local needs.
Against this background, NITI Aayog, in collaboration with various ministries and industry partners, is organising ‘MOVE: Global Mobility Summit’ in New Delhi on September 7 and 8, 2018. Global Mobility Hackathon will be an integral part of this event, providing a platform to participants to come up with innovative ideas and solutions on issues concerning mobility.
MoveHack aims to bring about innovative, dynamic and scalable solutions to problems pertaining to mobility.
The hackathon has a two-pronged campaign approach - (a) “Just Code It”, aimed at solutions through innovations in technology/ product/ software and data analysis, and (b) “Just Solve It”, innovative business ideas or sustainable solutions to transform mobility infrastructure through technology.
Move Hack is open to individuals of all nationalities, making it a global hackathon.
Registrations are open at https://www.movehack.gov.in. The top 30 teams from the online submissions will travel to Singapore for two days (September 1 and 2) and will be mentored by a curated group of top experts advising the teams on a host of parameters including design improvement, business viability, technical solution and customer targeting/ marketing. The top 20 teams from Singapore leg will participate in the Final Round to be held in New Delhi on September 5 and 6, 2018.
The winners will be announced during the Move Summit 2018, which is also organised by NITI Aayog on September 7 and 8 in New Delhi (http://movesummit.in/) and is being inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Awards for the hackathon include recognising top 10 winners, with a total prize of over Rs 2 crore.
MoveHack provides an opportunity for participants and developers to pitch their solutions to ministries and 100 Smart Cities with potential for an actual deployment.
