Mumbai-based wedding portal The Wedding Brigade raised over $1 million in a pre-Series A extension funding round led by Japan–based AET Fund and Blume Ventures. The funding round also saw participation from Allana Group and existing angel investors.
According to a press statement from the company, the funds will be primarily used to scale and operate its latest business in wedding banquet spaces, and to continue investing in its existing content and ecommerce businesses.
Founder and CEO of The Wedding Brigade, Sanna Vohra, said,
“Despite being such a large part of the overall spend, banquets that cater to the middle class are often poorly maintained. By managing the actual wedding ceremony, we will finally be able to offer an end-to-end stress-free solution for couples planning their wedding - from finding ideas on our blog, to shopping for clothing and jewelry on our ecommerce platform, to booking vendors through our concierge service, to hosting and executing the actual wedding in one of our banquets.”
Founded in 2014, The Wedding Brigade had, in January last year, had raised $1 million in a pre-Series A round of funding led by Blume Ventures, along with participation from Czar Capital, Mountain Pine Capital, Lets Venture investors and the Keiretsu Forum. This latest round takes the total amount raised by The Wedding Brigade to a total of $2.6 million.
Sajid Fazalbhoy, as part of the investment team of Blume Ventures, said on the investment, “We have witnessed The Wedding Brigade’s exciting journey over the last couple of years from a purely content platform to a formidable online / offline brand that solves the pain points in the wedding planning process. We are happy to continue to support the company as it looks to scale its offerings immensely within the coming year.”
