Spacetech startup SatLeo Labs raises $3.3M in pre-Seed funding

Spacetech startup SatLeo Labs has raised $3.3 million in its pre-seed round, led by Merak Ventures with Huddle Ventures participating as a major investor. GVFL, Java Capital, IIMA Ventures, and PointOne Capital also participated in the round, along with angel investors Manish Gandhi and Dheer Baldua.

We’re backing them for a genuine tech breakthrough that makes thermal data more useful, accessible and affordable. SatLeo Labs specialises in capturing high-resolution thermal imaging and visible data from Low Earth Orbit (LEO), plans to use the capital to propel its proprietary thermal imaging payload, secure regulatory approvals, expand its team, and enhance its infrastructure, among other things.

“We are pioneering a dual-band, high-resolution thermal payload designed for fused multispectral imaging—empowering sustainable solutions across agriculture, environmental conservation, climate-resilient urban planning, and strategic defence,” said Dr Ranendu Ghosh, Co-founder and CTO of SatLeo Labs.

Based in Ahmedabad, the deeptech startup uses high-resolution thermal imaging to bring about actionable eco-friendly change in sectors such as agriculture, urban planning, surveillance, and energy.

“Earth Observation (EO) data is projected to exceed $700 billion by 2030, contributing $3.8 trillion to global GDP. Beyond economics, thermal EO can help cut 2 Gigaton of GHG emissions annually and drive nature-positive action,” added Urmil Bakhai, Co-founder and CSO of SatLeo Labs.
