Lenskart makes a strategic investment in deep-tech XR startup Ajna Lens

Eyewear brand has made a strategic investment in Mumbai-based deep-tech startup Ajna Lens, known for its AI-powered XR (Extended Reality) glasses. The partnership is aimed at accelerating innovation in the emerging smart glasses segment.
Founded in 2014, Ajna Lens is a spatial computing and XR-focused company that gained global recognition after winning the CES Innovation Award 2023 for its flagship mixed reality headset, AjnaXR.
With this investment, Lenskart plans to combine its strength in frame design, engineering, and omnichannel retail with Ajna’s deep-tech capabilities to develop smart glasses that are stylish, functional, and built for daily use.
“We have been leveraging technology to create distinctive and meaningful eyewear experiences for our customers,” said Peyush Bansal, Co-founder and CEO of Lenskart. “This investment marks the next chapter in our Smart Glass journey, which began with the launch of Phonic, our audio glasses, in December 2024. As the Smart Glasses category scales rapidly, our partnership with Ajna Lens strategically positions us to accelerate product innovation in this space.”
The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.
Further, Lenskart has officially transitioned into a public limited company, following a special board resolution passed on May 30, according to media reports. The Gurugram-based company is now renamed Lenskart Solutions Limited, from its initial name, Lenskart Solutions Private Limited.
This comes as the Peyush Bansal co-founded unicorn is preparing for an IPO (initial public offering) at a $10 billion valuation. The transition to a public limited company was necessary before filing the IPO.
