Ola Electric launches battery energy storage systems
The product lineup leverages existing cell technology from Ola Electric's gigafactory and hardly needs any incremental investments, said Ola Electric’s founder, Bhavish Aggarwal. He foresees cell consumption from battery products to exceed consumption of automotive products in the future.
Electric vehicle maker Ola Electric has launched a line of battery energy storage systems under the brand 'Ola Shakti' as the firm looks to maximise use cases for cells manufactured at its gigafactory.
The new line of products are powered by Ola’s indigenous 4680 Bharat cell and require “hardly any incremental investment”, according to Ola Electric’s founder, Bhavish Aggarwal.
The company expects annual gigafactory consumption for the battery energy storage solutions to scale up to 5 gigawatt hours and exceed its automotive consumption in the next couple of years.
Customers will be able to interact with Ola Shakti products, which are said to be intelligent and automated. They will also have real-time control over battery status and energy flow, learn usage patterns to optimise energy automatically. The solutions will also offer actionable insights to help users save money and energy.
The company said that the solutions will be positioned largely as a business-to-consumer products. B2B products will be rolled out in future.
Currently, there are four variants of the product, available at an introductory price offer—1 kW/1.5 kWh for Rs 29,999, 1kW/3 kWh for Rs 55,999, 3kW/5.2 kWh for Rs 1,19,999, and 6kW/9.1 kWh at Rs 1,59,999.
On whether the company’s aggressive pricing strategies will possibly impact its profitability, Aggarwal said, “This product is fully leveraging our two-wheeler platform and our existing manufacturing. So the profitability will be actually very good from day one. In our estimate, it will actually be higher than an automotive product also.”

The new line of products will be available for purchase on Ola Electric's website and at Ola stores, with deliveries beginning from Makar Sankranti 2026.
Aggarwal said customers can tap into Ola Electric’s existing service centres for maintenance and service requirements. Ola Shakti products come with the battery pack of Roadster, the company’s bike portfolio.
Meanwhile, Ola Electric's market share has been declining in the electric two-wheeler segment. The company, which was India’s largest electric two-wheeler OEM until last year, has struggled to maintain its sales momentum amid rising competition from peer Ather Energy and legacy brands like Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor.
