SecneurX’s proprietary systems, from Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) to Generative AI–driven email security, create what the founders call “proactive digital defense.” Their ecosystem integrates behavioral analytics, sandboxing, and machine learning to detect, isolate, and neutralize even unknown malware before it can reach a network.

“Cybersecurity shouldn’t wait for an attack to happen. At SecneurX, our mission is to make defense proactive — using AI to predict and prevent threats before they strike,” says Manoharan.

By deploying its technology across government and enterprise clients, the startup is not only protecting critical systems but also fostering local deeptech talent.

Recognized under the Innovation for Defence Excellence (iDEX) challenge and the National Centre of Excellence for Cybersecurity, SecneurX has positioned Tamil Nadu as a strong player in global cyber resilience.

Building intelligent tools for industry: Zeekers Technology Solutions

When two professors from Coimbatore decided to turn theory into reality, Zeekers Technology Solutions was born. Founded by Dr. S. A. Pasupathy and Dr. M. Rameshkumar, Zeekers is democratizing Industry 4.0 innovation by building AI and IoT solutions that enhance productivity, safety, and accessibility for manufacturing and defense applications.

Among its standout creations is an AI-powered welding helmet that blocks the blinding light of welding while guiding operators through precision welding paths. It’s a tool that blends safety with intelligence and even extends to mining, using night vision and AI for real-time criticality detection.

What makes Zeekers exceptional is its affordable deeptech approach, proof that cutting-edge doesn’t have to be costly. The startup began with zero capital and now trains over 10,000 students across South India, bridging academia and industry through its “C2DC” pedagogy.

As Pasupathy puts it, “The mindset matters, innovation isn’t limited by funding; it’s driven by purpose.”

With patents filed, iDEX recognition, and growing traction under the SAMRIDH program, Zeekers is showing how Tamil Nadu’s innovation engine runs on ingenuity, not just investment.

Lighting the way for India’s defense: Arputha Advanced Systems

Founded by Nagaraj Kalanjiam in Coimbatore, Arputha Advanced Systems builds advanced lighting systems for defense vehicles, including the Indian Army’s BMP-II tanks.

The challenge wasn’t just about illumination; it was about improving battlefield visibility, safety, and operational efficiency in demanding environments. Arputha’s upgraded lighting management systems now support soldiers in mission-critical conditions, replacing imported solutions with homegrown precision engineering.

“We’re proud to serve our nation, building defense technologies that are made in India, for India,” says Kalanjiam.

Language, literacy, and inclusion: SignSetu

If innovation is meant to make life better, SignSetu is proving it can also make it fairer. Founded by Shraddha Agarwal, a deaf entrepreneur from Chennai, the startup is reimagining literacy for the 63 million deaf individuals in India through a first-of-its-kind, ISL-powered English learning app.

Built on deaf pedagogy and visual learning, SignSetu helps deaf children read and write English using Indian Sign Language (ISL) as the foundation. Modeled after gamified learning platforms, it combines storytelling, sentence-building games, ISL video dictionaries, and progress tracking to create a bilingual learning experience tailored for the deaf community.

“One word, one sign, one connection, that’s all it takes to change a life,” says Agarwal. “With SignSetu, we’re creating a world where every deaf individual is heard, understood, and empowered.”

The startup has already piloted its platform across Chennai and Hyderabad, with measurable improvements in literacy rates among deaf students. Recognized by UNDP Youth Co-Labs, the EmpowHer Innovator Award, and TANSEED 6.0 for combining technological innovation with social impact, empowering the Deaf community through greater access and inclusion.

The StartupTN catalyst effect
