Flipkart taps Myntra CBO Sharon Pais to head fashion business unit as competition grows
Sharon Pais' appointment to lead Flipkart's fashion business unit marks her return to the marketplace and comes on the heels of Myntra CFO Abhishek Gupta’s exit.
Flipkart has internally tapped Myntra CBO Sharon Pais as fashion business unit head for Flipkart, in the latest chapter of internal restructuring at Myntra.
Pais, who has been in the Flipkart ecosystem for over a decade in various roles, marks her return to Flipkart after departing from the marketplace as Head of Loyalty and Travel in October 2021.
In her new role, she will be reporting to Nandita Sinha, CEO of Myntra and Head of Flipkart Fashion, a company spokesperson confirmed to YourStory.
Sinha took on the additional charge of Flipkart's fashion vertical in August last year, with both divisions operating separately under Sinha and retaining their original structure.
The development was first reported by The Economic Times.
This comes just days after Abhishek Gupta, CFO at Myntra, departed the company almost four years after joining the firm. His position will be filled by Kannan Ganesan from December 1. Ganesan, who has been with Flipkart for half a decade, is currently a VP at the Walmart-backed marketplace.
Myntra, which competes with Tata Cliq and Ajio, became profitable in FY24. In FY25, it expanded its bottomline and clocked a blockbuster 18x growth in profit after tax to Rs 548.3 crore in FY25, against Rs 31 crore in FY24.
The business saw its consolidated revenue from operations rise 18% year-on-year to Rs 6,042.7 crore in FY25, up from Rs 5,121.8 crore in the previous fiscal year. It counts logistics, marketplace services, and advertising as major revenue streams.
Flipkart's focus on fashion comes at a time of stiff competition from Prosus-backed Meesho. The IPO-bound player has been steadily targeting Tier II and III towns, offering affordable options across lifestyle categories.
This is markedly different from Myntra's Tier I and Gen-Z focus, which is predominantly trend-led and brand-driven. Both Flipkart and Meesho host a large set of unbranded assortments.
