Reslink’s made-in-India innovation aims to break Chinese grip on the solar energy market
The New Delhi-based startup offers a complete energy intelligence platform and helps Indian firms save costs, boost uptime, and own their energy data.
India is overdependent on China-made hardware in the renewable energy sector, especially for solar inverters and battery management systems.
“Nearly 90% of solar inverters in India come from China,” says Shashank Jha, Co-founder and CEO of . “That means not just the hardware, but even critical operational data is routed overseas, which is both a performance and national security concern.”
New Delhi-based Reslink aims to address this issue with a reliable and intelligent made-in-India solution.
The startup was founded in 2023 by Jha, an alumnus of IIT Delhi and former president of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (eDC) at IIT Delhi, who had long been fascinated by hardware entrepreneurship.
His co-founder, Kalyan Tarafdar, an electronics engineer from Kolkata, also shared his passion.
The duo started Reslink as an R&D-on-demand venture for energy firms, developing custom technologies. By late 2024, they realised that, to create real impact, they needed to move beyond services and build their own products.
Solution overview
Reslink’s flagship product, Reslink Intelligence, is an energy intelligence platform that captures, analyses, and interprets data across solar plants, batteries, and inverters, all stored securely on Indian servers.
The platform uses IoT-based sensors and AI algorithms to monitor generation, consumption, and performance patterns in real time. It not only helps EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) companies optimise maintenance and reduce losses but also empowers end users to track plant efficiency directly.
In addition to software, Reslink also offers a hardware monitoring device that works seamlessly with its platform.
Ideation to launch
The startup officially launched its product in October this year, following 18 months of development, ground testing, and pilot installations with five employees. The team conducted on-site implementations to understand real-world challenges before commercialising the product.
The platform has already attracted over 100 prospective customers, with 20 active deployments underway.
Pricing and model
Reslink operates on a B2B SaaS model. Its software licence starts at Rs 10,000 per user, while the hardware monitoring device is sold at a one-time cost (customised per site). Clients pay a subscription fee of around Rs 50,000 per month for monitoring multiple solar sites.
The startup has raised Rs 1 crore in pre-seed funding from investors including IMA Ventures, Chandigarh Angel Network, and Azhar Iqubal, Co-founder of Inshorts. It reported a revenue of around Rs 1.5 crore in FY2024 and is valued at Rs 19 crore post-money.
Reslink is part of the Design Linked Incentive Scheme by the Government of India, which supports indigenous hardware design and manufacturing.
Market and competition
Reslink competes with players such as Aurora Solar and Solar Labs. Jha believes Reslink’s advantage lies in its dual focus on data intelligence and indigenised hardware.
“Most companies work on simulation or analytics layers. We’re building the ecosystem end-to-end,” he says.
According to an IMARC report, the Indian battery storage market was valued at around $260 million in 2024 and is projected to reach $2.3 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of about 25.8%.
Reslink aims to capture 10% of the solar EPC segment within the next six to eight months, translating to Rs 5 crore in projected revenue.
Future roadmap
The team’s next goal is to launch an integrated solar plus BSS (battery storage system) simulation tool by December this year. This module will allow developers to forecast solar payback periods, ROI, and consumption fluctuations with greater precision.
“We’re training our AI models with real Indian climate and consumption data,” notes Jha. “That’s something global players just can’t replicate.”
The startup also plans to build its own India-made inverter and battery systems, combining hardware and software under one platform. It is in talks with over 100 EPC partners for collaborations on this.
