Tally Solutions wants to use AI in the right manner to benefit small businesses
At a panel discussion at TechSparks 2025, leaders from Tally Solutions discuss the company's AI roadmap. While it is looking at various ways to engage with AI, the accounting software company is in no hurry to deploy the technology.
Artificial intelligence (AI) maybe the buzzword everywhere but accounting software company Tally Solutions is not carried away by it. The four-decade-old firm wants to ensure that this technology is deployed in the right manner for its 7 million odd customers.
“We just don’t want to demo it saying Tally is powered by AI, but we are in the middle of crafting it (AI solution),” said Nupur Goenka, Executive Director, Tally Solutions, during a panel discussion at TechSparks 2025, moderated by YourStory's COO Sangeeta Bavi.
Tejas Goenka, Managing Director, Tally Solutions, is of the view that as the company is in the business of accounting software, it has to provide very precise solutions. “We are running a bunch of stuff to figure out how we can better support customers with AI if possible. If we don't like an experience, we'll probably not push it to our customers.”
While Tally Solutions is looking at various ways to engage with AI, it is also aware of the diverse requirements of businesses across the country. Nupur Goenka said the company has to be conscious of the cost to the customers, given that its core customers are small businesses.
Echoing her view, Teja Goenka remarked, “India is a very forward-looking, experimental country, but a non-forgiving country."
Having said this, Tally Solutions is not averse to technology upgrades. In fact, it has rearchitected its entire software architecture multiple times over the years.
Over the years, the company has built a reputation for the reliability and resilience of its products. This has come largely from listening to customers, finding out what they want, and earning their trust.
Bharat Goenka, Vice Chairperson, Tally Solutions, said, “If you listen to your customers long enough, they will design the product for you.” He believes it is important to do right by the other person (customer) without worrying about what is right for you.
