Chiratae Ventures launches deeptech program to fund early-stage startups
The Chiratae Sonic DeepTech program will invest up to $2 million from Seed to Series A stage startups.
Bengaluru-based Chiratae Ventures on Monday launched Chiratae Sonic DeepTech program—a funding channel that will look to back early-stage deeptech startups.
Under this program, the VC firm will invest up to $2 million across Seed to Series A stage companies.
The firm will look to back startups in energy and climate, quantum technologies, robotics and advanced manufacturing, space technologies, applied AI/ML, defence, bio and medtech, and digital economy.
“India’s next wave of category-defining companies will come from DeepTech startups that combine research rigour with product thinking,” said Saharsh Sharma, Vice President, Investments, Chiratae Ventures.
“Founders need capital that understands long timelines, and partners who open doors with customers and research collaborators. Chiratae Sonic DeepTech is built exactly for that to give ambitious teams faster conviction and the ecosystem they need to win.”
Under this program, startups can also get access to a network of experts and ecosystem partnerships required to fast-track the frontier technologies being built to move from lab to market faster.
The firm, which has backed deeptech companies like AI marketing startup Pixis, consumer robotics firm Miko, agentic solutions company Pando.ai, and spacetech firm Agnikul, among others, have deployed over $200 million in the sector and has invested in over 50 companies in the sector.
Applications for this program are now open.
Chiratae Ventures is a 19-year old Indian VC firm that collectively manages $1.3 billion in assets under management across seven funds. It has invested in over 130 companies and has recorded over 50 exits, returning about $1 billion capital to limited partners in the last 14 years, it said.
Some of the firm’s notable portfolio companies include listed companies FirstCry and Lenskart, as well as companies like Cult.Fit and Flipkart, among others.
