Flipkart strengthens board, appoints former Meta executive Dan Neary
In November last year, Flipkart appointed Dan Bartlett, Head of Corporate Affairs and Executive Vice President, Walmart, to its board.
Flipkart on Wednesday said it has appointed former Meta executive Dan Neary to its board of directors, as the ecommerce firm aims to bolster governance and leadership ahead of a planned IPO filing.
The move follows a similar board addition last year, when Walmart Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs, Dan Bartlett, joined the board in November 2024 as part of the parent’s efforts to deepen oversight of the business.
In a statement, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO and Member of the Board, Flipkart Group, said, “We are delighted to welcome Dan to the Flipkart Board. His global experience across technology, digital commerce, and platform scale will be invaluable as we shape the next phase of Flipkart’s journey."
"With AI transforming every layer of retail, from customer experience to supply chain and seller empowerment, Dan’s perspective and leadership will help accelerate our innovation agenda. We look forward to partnering with him as we continue building responsibly, with long-term value, trust, and impact,” he added.
The development comes just weeks after Walmart highlighted Flipkart’s performance in its third-quarter earnings. The early timing of Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale lifted Q3 performance for its international business, giving Walmart a sharper-than-expected boost, even as the shift is set to weigh on Q4 growth.
Flipkart’s move to strengthen its board comes amid renewed focus on its public listing as ecommerce peer Meesho looks to open its IPO on December 4, Thursday.
