Amazon CEO Andy Jassy visits India, company to expand quick commerce network to 300 cities
Amazon will scale up its micro fulfillment and urban fulfilment centres as it looks up the ante in quick commerce business
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is on an India visit and the company said it is expanding its quick commerce service to more than 300 cities in the country.
The quick commerce business unit called Amazon Now is now present in 15 locations in cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Amritsar and Kochi, according to a blog post from the company.
Now, Amazon plans to scale its micro fulfilment centres and urban fulfilment centres to house an expanded selection of daily essentials ranging from groceries (including fruits & vegetables and frozen food), personal care, fashion & beauty products to small appliances, home & kitchen products etc.
Amazon Now was first launched in June 2025.
The statement said the orders on Amazon Now have doubled every quarter since its launch, making it the fastest growing ecommerce business unit in the history of the company’s operations in India.
Amazon India Country Manager Samir Kumar said “We are seeing a great response from customers, especially Prime members who triple their shopping frequency once they start using Amazon Now. We have further accelerated our expansion and will offer ultra-fast deliveries to customers in over 300 cities of India.”
Amazon said this service is now being expanded to several countries across the globe.
Amazon also introduced ‘Sammaan’, a programme designed to support delivery associates through upgraded health and life insurance, education scholarships for their children, and more. A portion of Amazon India's recently announced $300 million investment in operations and associate well-being will go towards strengthening and scaling this programme.
As part of the programme, Amazon will also expand its Ashray rest centers to 250 locations this year, open to any delivery associate in the industry.
