Betting early on geospatial tech; OpenAI plans ChatGPT super app
By adapting early to shifts in drone mapping, LIDAR, AI-powered geospatial intelligence, and digital infrastructure, Matrix Geo Solutions has grown from a niche geospatial firm into a publicly listed industry player.
Hello,
The AI boom is creating opportunities, but it’s also giving rise to new challenges. Researchers are warning that AI is becoming a fresh rallying point for extremist groups, with fears around job losses, surveillance, and rapid technological change increasingly being weaponised by fringe actors. While the vast majority of criticism of AI remains peaceful, experts say anti-AI sentiment is beginning to show up in some worrying ways.
At the same time, OpenAI is reportedly preparing its biggest ChatGPT overhaul yet. According to the Financial Times, the company wants to evolve ChatGPT into a “super app” with built-in coding tools and AI agents, a move that could deepen user engagement and boost revenue ahead of a potential public listing. The effort is also part of OpenAI’s push to win more enterprise customers and stay ahead of rival Anthropic.
The race to build AI infrastructure is heating up as well. Nvidia and South Korea’s SK Group are expected to announce a new partnership today, likely centred on memory-chip leader SK Hynix. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has warned that semiconductor and memory shortages could persist for years as demand from AI, robotics, and advanced computing continues to outpace supply.
In other news, drugmaker Eli Lilly’s experimental obesity drug retatrutide delivered another strong set of results. The drug not only helped patients lose significant weight but also reduced sleep apnea severity, eased knee osteoarthritis pain, and improved blood sugar levels, further strengthening Lilly’s position in one of healthcare’s fastest-growing markets.

Betting early on geospatial tech

Founded in 2008 when geospatial technology was still a niche field in India, Matrix Geo Solutions bet early on drone mapping, LiDAR, and remote sensing. Nearly two decades later, the company is leveraging AI-powered geospatial intelligence, expanding globally, and scaling up after a successful IPO.
Key takeaways:
- Matrix Geo Solutions began investing in advanced surveying technologies long before drones became mainstream, helping build capabilities across infrastructure, railways, mining, and urban planning.
- The company is now focusing on GeoAI, digital twins, and cloud-based geospatial platforms to support smarter infrastructure management, predictive planning, and data-driven governance.
- Following its NSE SME listing in 2025, Matrix reported FY26 revenue of about Rs 40.1 crore and profit of Rs 10.06 crore, while also pursuing expansion into international markets.

Building the missing pipeline for women founders

There has never been a shortage of capable women founders; the issue has always been about shortage of access: access to networks, investors, mentors, and the rooms where early-stage decisions get made.
In 2019, Aishwarya Malhi and Vikas Kumar set out to close this gap, launching Rebalance, India’s first accelerator and angel community focused on women and diverse founders, building the missing pipeline rather than waiting for the ecosystem to change.
Key takeaways:
- Gurugram-based Rebalance supports women-led startups with mentorship, investor access, and no-fee, no-equity support.
- Rebalance runs a structured 15-week accelerator twice a year, in summer and winter, and accepts 10-15 companies per cohort. The programme requires at least one active woman founder, early traction, and scalable tech ideas.
- Support includes weekly growth sessions, one-on-one mentoring, expert bootcamps, wellness support, and introductions to more than 180 VC partners across India, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States.
