Instamart names former Myntra chief Nandita Sinha as CEO
Nandita Sinha will take charge as Instamart CEO on August 3, 2026, succeeding Amitesh Jha, who led the business through a period of rapid expansion.
Instamart has appointed former Myntra chief executive officer Nandita Sinha as its new CEO, handing leadership of one of India’s largest quick-commerce businesses to a seasoned consumer internet executive at a time when the sector is entering a more competitive and profitability-focused phase.
Sinha will take charge on August 3, 2026, succeeding Amitesh Jha, who led the business through a period of rapid expansion.
The leadership change comes as India’s quick-commerce industry, where companies promise deliveries of groceries and daily essentials in minutes through neighbourhood fulfilment centres known as dark stores, continues to attract heavy investment.
Market leaders including Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto are expanding their networks, while Amazon and Flipkart have also stepped up their quick-commerce services, increasing competitive pressure across the market.
Announcing the leadership change, Swiggy managing director and group CEO Sriharsha Majety said, “Nandita is one of India’s most accomplished consumer internet leaders, and I’m enthusiastic about the vision, customer obsession and operational rigor she brings to the team we have built at Instamart.”
Majety also praised outgoing chief Jha for strengthening the business during a crucial period. He said Jha helped sharpen Instamart’s differentiation, including through the launch of Noice, improved contribution margins, and built a high-performing organisation that leaves the company “in a solid, well-run state”.
Contribution margin is the profit remaining after covering the direct costs of fulfilling orders, an important measure of operational efficiency for quick-commerce businesses.
Sinha joins Instamart after leading Myntra, where she oversaw the fashion retailer’s continued market share gains and its achievement of EBITDA profitability in 2024. EBITDA is a measure of operating performance before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation.
Before Myntra, she held senior leadership roles at Flipkart, Britannia, and Hindustan Unilever, giving her more than two decades of experience across e-commerce, fashion and fast-moving consumer goods.
Speaking about her new role, Sinha said, “Instamart sits at the heart of how India shops for its everyday needs, and I look forward to working with our colleagues, partners and consumers to shape its next chapter of growth.”
Founded in 2020, Instamart has grown into one of India’s leading quick-commerce platforms and now operates in more than 131 cities, delivering groceries and other daily essentials through its dedicated logistics network.
The company said Sinha will lead its next phase by building on its differentiated product assortment, growth momentum, improving profitability, customer focus and operational excellence.
The appointment also reflects broader shifts across India’s quick-commerce landscape. Investors are increasingly looking beyond rapid growth towards sustainable economics, even as companies continue investing in new dark stores and faster delivery capabilities.
Swiggy’s leadership reshuffle comes amid heightened competition from rivals, while other players are also strengthening their management teams.
