PhonePe appoints Srijon Biswas as new CTO
In his new role, Biswas will lead the company's engineering organisation and report to Rahul Chari, Co-founder of PhonePe, who will take on the role of Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO).
Fintech company PhonePe has announced the appointment of Srijon Biswas as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In his new role, Biswas will lead the company’s engineering organisation.
Biswas has been with PhonePe for several years and led the engineering across multiple teams and played a central role in scaling the operations of the company to millions of users. In his new role, he will continue to report to Rahul Chari, Co-founder of PhonePe.
“As PhonePe continues to expand and grow, strengthening our technology leadership is a natural step. Srijon’s appointment ensures we continue to invest deeply in engineering excellence while building the technology platforms that will power the future of digital India”, said Rahul Chari.
As part of a broader evolution of leadership responsibilities, Chari will assume the role of chief product and technology officer (CPTO) and will continue to oversee the technology and product functions, in addition to trust & safety, data sciences & analytics, and customer Experience, while leading other strategic initiatives across the PhonePe Group.

A statement from PhonePe said it continues to invest heavily in technology, engineering talent, and platform capabilities to support its growing portfolio of digital financial services and consumer businesses.
The PhonePe digital payments app was launched in 2016 and has over 70 crore registered users and a digital payments acceptance network spread across over 5 crore merchants.
Its offerings include consumer and merchant payments, lending and insurance distribution services, as well as platforms such as Share.Market, a stockbroking and mutual fund distribution platform, and Indus Appstore, an Android-based app marketplace.
