Ather share price up 7% after Hero MotoCorp increases stake
Existing shareholder Hero MotoCorp said it will invest Rs 1,758 crore to acquire additional shares in Ather Energy.
The shares of electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy rose by over 7% on Friday in response to the news about Hero MotoCorp increasing its stake in the company.
Ather Energy share price was trading at Rs 1603.10 on Friday, at the time of writing this article, against Thursday’s close of Rs 1495.30.
Hero MotoCorp on Thursday informed the stock exchanges on Thursday that it would invest up to Rs 1,758 crore to acquire additional shares in Ather Energy from an existing shareholder from an existing shareholder through cash transaction.
Hero MotoCorp is an existing shareholder in Ather Energy and this transaction take its ownership to 32.8%.
Ather Energy is one of the new age EV makers along with Ola Electric, Simple Energy among others. It got listed on Indian stock markets on May 6, 2025.
For the first quarter of FY27, Ather Energy saw a 71% decline in net losses as it shrunk to Rs 51 crore as compared to Rs 178 crore a year ago. The company reported a consolidated total income of Rs 1,260 crore for the quarter, up by 87.2% YoY, thanks to a growing contribution from non-vehicle revenue including software subscriptions, charging, accessories, spares, and service.
The quarter also saw consolidated EBITDA turn positive at Rs 9 crore in Q1 FY27, compared with an EBITDA loss of Rs 106 crore in Q1 FY26, according to the company statement. Ather said it delivered 83,173 units during the quarter, up 80.5% YoY.
"We continued to see strong demand across our portfolio, as structural tailwinds from both policy support and shifting customer sentiment translated into a massive upsurge for our products, with demand far outstripping supply. This gives us confidence that the market continues to expand,” said Tarun Mehta, Co-founder and CEO, Ather Energy.
