Dharwad Big Mishra Pedha raises Rs 300 Cr from Bharat Value Fund
Dharwad Big Mishra Pedha has over 200 outlets and plans to add another 100 with entry into 50 more cities in the next two years.
Dharwad Big Mishra Pedha, the 93-year-old confectionery maker headquartered in Karnataka, has raised Rs 300 crore in funding from Bharat Value Fund, a category II AIF private equity fund of The Wealth Company.
Founded in 1933, Big Mishra now operates in the segments of sweets, namkeen, bread, bakery, and restaurants. It has over 200 exclusive outlets under the franchise model across North Karnataka, Goa, and Southern Maharashtra, a statement said.
Big Mishra has invested approximately Rs 100 crore in its manufacturing capacity over the past three years and serves an estimated 10 million customers annually. It has expanded beyond its traditional franchise and distributor channels through modern trade partnerships, including Reliance Smart Bazaar, alongside quick commerce.
According to Bharat Value Fund, this investment underscores its conviction in the branded regional foods opportunity in India. The revenue of Big Mishra has increased from around Rs 142 crore in FY22 to over Rs 300 crore in FY26 representing a 16% CAGR over five years.
The company aims to add 100 outlets and enter more than 50 new cities over the next two years.
“For over ninety years, our family has built Big Mishra one store and one customer relationship at a time. Bharat Value Fund’s investment brings the institutional capital, strategic expertise and governance framework required for our next phase of growth, while allowing us to preserve the heritage and quality that have defined Dharwad Pedha for generations,” said Sanjay Ganesh Mishra, Promoter, Dharwad Big Mishra Pedha Private Limited.
This is the fourth investment by Bharat Value Fund into India’s ethnic sweets and snacks segment.
“India has many strong regional brands that have earned consumer trust over generations but have not yet had the opportunity to scale nationally. At Bharat Value Fund, we want to partner with such businesses not just with capital, but by working closely with promoters on professionalisation, distribution and the next phase of growth,” said Madhu Lunawat, Founder of The Wealth Company Asset Management Private Limited.
