The company, which manages more than $20 billion in securities across 650+ companies and 80,000+ stakeholders, has introduced agentic AI capabilities designed to understand context and take action.
EquityList has launched an AI-native cap table and compliance operating system, adding agentic AI capabilities to equity management workflows, including analyzing documents, identifying compliance gaps, and drafting grants.
The company said the system is designed to move beyond recording equity data by allowing users to query and analyze information and take action on related workflows.
Equity management workflows often involve data spread across different systems, spreadsheets, and legal documents. EquityList said its platform is designed to bring this information together, allowing finance and HR teams to work with cap table and compliance data through AI-assisted workflows.
“Equity is the only company function that, at most organizations, has no dedicated expert,” said Kashish Sharma, Founder and CEO of EquityList. “It often lands with a founder, an HR lead, or someone in finance who inherited it. We built this so teams can run equity operations like a specialist.”
EquityList serves more than 650 companies across 16 countries and manages more than $20 billion in securities for over 80,000 stakeholders. Its customers include Tata Consumer Products, Swiggy, Angel One, Shiprocket, BlackBuck and BlueStone; unicorns including Flipkart, Rapido, Slice, Sarvam, Tabby.ai and Salla; and brands such as Taco Bell India.
AI with human review
“More automation doesn't mean less control,” Sharma said. “AI-assisted actions are surfaced for the company to review and approve before they touch the cap table, with a clear record of what the AI suggested and what a human signed off on.”
EquityList said its AI has been built into the platform rather than added as an external tool. Cap table and compliance data is deeply interconnected, with share classes, vesting schedules, valuations, and approvals all affecting one another, the company said. This complexity can be difficult to capture with a generic AI tool bolted onto the platform from the outside.
The platform includes strict controls over the data the AI can access and the actions it can take. EquityList said it is backed by SOC 2 Type II certification, ISO 27001 compliance, and alignment with GDPR (EU).
Headout, a US-incorporated company backed by Nexus Venture Partners and Glade Brook Capital, uses EquityList to manage its equity operations.
“Headout is a global company built by a team spread across the world. As we continue to scale, managing equity with clarity and efficiency becomes increasingly important. EquityList has made it much easier for us to access and analyse our equity data, bringing together information that previously required navigating multiple reports,” said Manisha Singh, Associate Director - Legal and Compliance at Headout. “We’re also excited by the potential of its AI capabilities to simplify routine workflows and give our teams more time to focus on strategic priorities."
Combining AI with a system of record to become a system of intelligence
The company said its system of record tracks shares, grants, and vesting events, while its AI layer allows users to query data in plain language and analyze information across contracts, filings, and cap table history.
The underlying data and calculations continue to run on what EquityList describes as a deterministic engine built on proprietary data models. The company said this structure is intended to give finance and compliance teams AI-assisted capabilities while retaining the underlying records and calculations.
The launch also includes a self-serve onboarding flow. According to EquityList, AI can parse legal documents, cap tables, and financial reports to help customers migrate their equity data faster than through manual onboarding. Customers can review and confirm the information extracted by the system rather than entering it manually.
“We didn't want to bolt AI onto an old workflow,” Sharma said. “We waited until we could identify where it changes outcomes for customers, rather than simply where it looks impressive in a demo.”
Looking ahead, EquityList plans to expand its compliance automation capabilities, including corporate governance workflows that enterprises can configure and run with less manual sign-off.
