From cloud migration to citizen services: AppSquadz and India’s evolving digital transformation journey
In the last 5 years, AppSquadz has expanded its cloud capabilities to support some significant digital transformation initiatives across government, healthcare, and enterprise sectors in India.
India's digital transformation journey has moved well beyond digitization. Across sectors, organizations are modernizing infrastructure, rethinking service delivery, and building systems that can support growing volumes of users and data. From government departments and public sector organizations to research institutions and enterprises, cloud technology has become central to that shift.
As cloud adoption accelerated, organizations needed partners that could help them navigate the transition. The challenge was no longer simply moving workloads to the cloud. It was about modernizing legacy systems, strengthening security, improving reliability, and creating infrastructure capable of supporting future growth.
For AppSquadz, this changing landscape created an opportunity to expand its role in the market. Founded in 2014 by Chandrakant Agrawal and Priyanka Agarwal, AppSquadz began as a technology solutions company focused on building digital products and applications. Over time, customer conversations increasingly shifted towards cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, and managed services.
That led to a significant milestone in 2019 when AppSquadz became an official AWS Partner. The partnership enabled the company to deepen its cloud expertise and support customers looking to build secure, scalable technology environments. In 2020, AppSquadz earned the AWS Advanced Consulting Partner status, followed by the AWS Premier Tier Services Partner status, reflecting the organization’s growing capabilities in cloud consulting, migration, security, and managed services.
Today, cloud transformation forms a key part of the company's work across government, healthcare, public sector, and enterprise organisations. Additionally, AI Labz - AppSquadz’s dedicated AI innovation and delivery division, is geared towards helping organizations transform artificial intelligence into real business value. With 12+ years of experience in delivering technologies for global enterprises, AI Labz offers a blend of expertise in Generative AI, intelligent automation, data intelligence and MLOps to build practical, scalable and outcome-driven AI solutions.
Modernizing public digital infrastructure
Some of AppSquadz' largest cloud transformation projects have been in the public sector, where reliability and scale are critical.
One such engagement was with the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), the state's nodal IT agency. Supporting multiple government departments required infrastructure that could handle varying workloads while maintaining uninterrupted access to digital services.
AppSquadz migrated legacy systems to AWS and deployed a managed cloud environment designed to support secure data management, application scalability, and continuous service delivery. The implementation enabled departments to operate on a common cloud platform while improving the speed and efficiency of digital service delivery.
The company undertook a similar transformation for the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSeDC), which supports more than 200 government departments across the state. The cloud-based infrastructure helped improve operational efficiency, accelerate application deployment, and provide a more scalable foundation for e-governance services. Security and compliance protocols were integrated into the architecture to support mission-critical government operations.
Supporting digital services at national scale
Few government initiatives operate at the scale of Common Service Centres (CSC), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology programme that delivers digital services through more than five lakh centers across India.
These centers play a vital role in extending access to government schemes, healthcare, education, and financial services, particularly in rural areas.
Managing infrastructure at this scale requires systems that can accommodate fluctuating demand without disrupting service delivery.
AppSquadz built and managed a cloud environment that enabled CSC to operate reliably across its nationwide network. Auto-scaling capabilities allowed the infrastructure to handle peak workloads, while cloud migration helped modernize legacy systems without impacting services being delivered to citizens. The project illustrates how cloud infrastructure has become an essential component of India's digital public infrastructure ecosystem.
Building trusted platforms for national programs
Cloud transformation often involves balancing scale with trust. The Quality Council of India (QCI), which operates national initiatives such as the ZED Certification program and the DigiReady platform, needed infrastructure capable of supporting growing adoption across the country. AppSquadz migrated and managed these platforms on AWS, creating an environment designed for reliability, scalability, and transparency. The implementation helped support large enterprise workloads while ensuring certification and compliance processes remained secure and tamper-resistant.
For organizations managing nationwide programs, the ability to scale operations without compromising trust has become increasingly important.
The use of cloud technology is expanding well beyond traditional enterprise applications. The National Institute of Immunohaematology (ICMR-NIIH), one of India's leading medical research institutions, faced challenges related to storing and processing large volumes of genetic and molecular research data.
To address these requirements, AppSquadz developed a cloud strategy leveraging AWS services, including AWS HealthOmics. This allowed researchers with computing resources required to analyze complex datasets while maintaining strict security and compliance requirements.
Strengthening enterprise security
As organizations expand their digital footprint, security becomes an increasingly important part of the cloud conversation. One example is Mjunction Services Limited, the joint venture between SAIL and Tata Steel that operates one of India's largest B2B e-commerce platforms.
AppSquadz implemented an advanced cloud security architecture using AWS and Palo Alto Networks technologies to improve threat detection, enhance monitoring capabilities, and strengthen protection for high-value business transactions.
The deployment improved visibility across network traffic, reduced compliance gaps, and helped secure critical business systems operating at scale. Projects such as these highlight the growing convergence between cloud adoption and cybersecurity investments.
Expanding through AppSquadz BharatWide
As its customer footprint expanded, the AppSquadz BharatWide initiative was launched to strengthen engagement with organizations across India.
The initiative has focused on building relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders across cities including Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Through direct engagement, the company aims to better understand regional business requirements and support cloud adoption across a wider range of industries and geographies.
Looking ahead
Over the past six years, AppSquadz has focused on enhancing its cloud capabilities, and has worked across government, healthcare, research, and enterprise environments, helping organizations modernize infrastructure, improve resilience, strengthen security, and prepare for future growth.
As cloud adoption continues to deepen across sectors, the demand for scalable and secure digital infrastructure is expected to grow alongside it. AppSquadz is positioning itself to support that shift, helping organizations move from legacy systems to cloud-first environments capable of supporting the next phase of India's digital economy.
