Kaapi Machines raises Rs 50 Cr from Sedna HoReCa
Kaapi Machines will use the funding to expand its product portfolio, stengthen its manufacturing capabilities, and improve technology.
Kaapi Machines, a coffee equipment and service provider based in Bengaluru, has raised Rs 50 crore in equity funding from Sedna HoReCa, a PE-backed B2B solutions provider for the HoReCa segment (hotels, restaurants and cafes/catering).
Kaapi Machines and Sedna, which is also Bengaluru based, have entered into a partnership to expand the former’s product portfolio, strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, and improve its technology stack, warehousing, and service infrastructure, according to a statement.
The statement also noted that Kaapi Machines will pursue select new opportunities in adjacent product categories for its core customer base, leveraging Sedna’s capabilities.
Kaapi Machines, which was founded in 2007 by Abhinav Mathur, aims to cross 150 crore in revenue in the current financial year and expand its business over the next 2-3 years.
“We are excited to partner with the Sedna team as we set forth on our new growth trajectory at Kaapi Machines. As the HoReCa industry continues to grow and gets more organised, we want to expand our capabilities to offer our customers new and innovative products, technologies and solutions,” said Mathur.
Kaapi Machines' clients include large café chains, QSRs, speciality coffee roasters, hotels, retailers, corporates, and coffee vending businesses in India.
"The partnership with Abhinav and Kaapi Machines is a highly synergistic addition to Sedna's capabilities given their deep domain expertise, brand equity and pan-India service network catering to a fast-growing category, and reinforces our vision of building India's most comprehensive B2B platform for the food service ecosystem,” said Saurabh Pandey, Managing Director, Sedna HoReCa Pvt Ltd.
Coffee consumption has been showing sustained growth in the country among the growing middle class and a new breed of consumers driven by the café culture. The market comprises domestic brands, global players, and speciality coffee chains such as Third Wave and Blue Tokai.
