Micromax Informatics launches Rs 250 Cr family office to invest in deeptech startups
The family office will focus on startups across AI, semiconductors, defence, space technology, and robotics, primarily at the early stages of funding.
Technology company Micromax Informatics has launched its family office with a corpus of Rs 250 crore to invest in deeptech startups in India and overseas.
A statement said, the family office will focus on investments in startups across AI, semiconductors, defence technology, space technology and robotics, primarily at the pre-Series A to Series B stages of funding, with an average ticket size of Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crore.
It also noted that the family office is designed to help promising deeptech ventures make the leap from innovation to commercial scale, includnig product commercialisation, manufacturing scale-up, and market access.
On the launch of the fund, Micromax Informatics Co-founder Rahul Sharma said, “Deeptech startups stand at the forefront of a technology-led transformation that will define the economic and strategic future for decades to come. Having lived that experience with Micromax, through this, we aim to empower founders with the resources, partnerships and industry expertise needed to transform breakthrough ideas into impactful solutions and sustainable businesses.”
The investment will centre around companies solving complex engineering and technology challenges with strong commercial potential and the ability to scale globally.
The family office also aims to go beyond financial investment by helping portfolio companies accelerate commercialisation, strengthen manufacturing and supply-chain capabilities, access industry partnerships, and tap into the broader technology ecosystem. It will leverage the broader Micromax ecosystem to provide founders with strategic and industry access via its portfolio companies MiPhi Semiconductors and Bhagwati Products.
Micromax Informatics Investment Head Aakil Garg said, “Our focus will be on identifying founders who are building for scale and where our industry, manufacturing and technology ecosystem can create value well beyond the capital invested.”
