Ola Electric launches S1Z, deliveries to begin in December

Ola Electric has launched its new electric scooter, the S1Z, at a starting price of Rs 79,999. The company said it has opened bookings for the scooter and deliveries is expected to begin in December.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, announced the launch on X on Friday. "As India's electrification ramps, today we’re setting a new benchmark for the industry. More than just a metal body with a fancy name."

The S1Z is available in two battery configurations. The 3.1 kWh variant is priced at Rs 79,999 and offers an IDC range of 179 km, while the 5.1 kWh variant is priced at Rs 99,999 and offers a claimed IDC range of 301 km.

The electric scooter comes with Ola Electric's in-house developed 46-series LFP Bharat Cell. Both variants have a top speed of 70 kmph.

“The industry has always treated affordable scooters as stripped-down products: less range, less technology, more compromise. We’ve done the opposite,” Aggarwal said on X.

“We built the cell, motor, vehicle, software, every critical component inhouse. And we’re passing that tech advantage to the Indian customer.”

Deliveries of the 5.1 kWh variant are expected to begin in March 2027.

Ola Electric had previously launched the S1Z at a starting price of Rs 59,999, while the S1Z+ was priced at Rs 64,999.

The launch comes as Ola Electric looks to strengthen its position in India's electric two-wheeler market.

Earlier this month, the EV company reported a consolidated loss to Rs 336 crore in Q1 FY27, narrowing from Rs 428 crore a year earlier and Rs 500 crore in the previous quarter.

The company also said that its market share increased from 5.1% in Q4 FY26 to 8.4% in Q1 FY27, while Auto revenue rose 72% quarter-on-quarter
