Xbattery makes the circuit board that decides whether a battery pack works or burns
The Hyderabad-based company designs and manufactures battery management systems in-house for electric vehicles and stationary storage, a component India mostly imports.
A battery pack is not just cells. It is cells plus a circuit board that watches every one of them, balances the charge between them, tracks temperature, and cuts the pack off before anything goes wrong. That board is the battery management system, and it is the difference between a pack that lasts years and one that fails or catches fire.
India has been assembling battery packs at scale for a decade, and importing most of those boards. That leaves assemblers dependent on a foreign supplier for the one part that decides safety, unable to change the firmware, and stuck waiting on shipping whenever something goes wrong. was founded in Hyderabad in August 2024 to make them in India. Its founders are Satish Reddy and Sonu Mishra. The company works from T-Hub, the Hyderabad innovation centre.
The choice of component is a deliberate one. Cell manufacturing needs enormous capital, and the electronics around the cells need engineering rather than a gigafactory.
One board, many packs
The product is called BharatBMS, and the company describes it as a universal high-voltage system: one hardware platform that scales from a 5 kWh home installation up to megawatt-scale industrial storage, with versions at 51.2 volts, 72 volts and 110 volts supporting different pack configurations.
What it does inside the pack is unglamorous yet essential. It manages heat, monitors the cells in real time, and balances charge between them so that no single cell is worked harder than the rest. Furthermore, it allows remote diagnostics and enforces the safety cut-offs. The company says this extends battery life by up to 15%.
The company says design, firmware, thermal analysis, testing, programming and assembly all happen at its Hyderabad facility, in-house, with only a few mechanical parts such as metal casings made externally. That requires equipment most software-led startups never touch: thermal chambers, battery welders, electronic loads and programmable chargers.
BharatBMS sells between Rs 2,000 and Rs 25,000 depending on configuration, with the lower end for scooters and the higher end for trucks and larger vehicles.
From a component to a product
In February 2026, the company launched a finished product built on its own board. The XB-5K is a 5 kWh storage system for homes and small offices, which the company compares to a phone power bank. It switches between grid and backup instantly and weighs 37 kilograms. Xbattery Energy says it can run household appliances, including an air conditioner, for up to 24 hours. Selling a management system means selling to companies that build packs; selling a storage unit means selling to whoever needs backup power. Its two customer groups reflect that split. On one side are vehicle manufacturers building electric cars, buses and trucks. On the other are system integrators assembling large packs for residential, commercial and grid installations.
The company showcased its products at India Energy Storage Week in 2026. No funding round, customer name, order or revenue figure appears in any public source.
