Ajit Mohan steps down as Snap’s Chief Business Officer
The former Meta India head is returning to Singapore to spend more time with his family. Snap has named EMEA President Ronan Harris as its Chief Commercial Officer.
Snap’s Chief Business Officer Ajit Mohan is leaving the company after nearly four years, concluding a tenure during which he helped rebuild the Snapchat parent’s global advertising business. Snap has appointed Ronan Harris, previously President of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as Chief Commercial Officer. Reporting directly to co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel, Harris will lead the company’s advertising sales and go-to-market operations.
Mohan said in a LinkedIn post that personal considerations drove his decision. His family remained in Singapore while his global responsibilities required him to travel frequently between New York, Los Angeles and Singapore over the past two years.
“I’m coming home, and I am looking forward to spending more time with the boys than with the Singapore Airlines crew on trans-Pacific flights,” he wrote.
Mohan joined Snap in January 2023 as President of Asia Pacific after leading Meta India as Vice President and Managing Director. He was elevated to the global role of Chief Business Officer in February 2025, taking charge of Snap’s advertising business, including its ads product and engineering functions. During his time at Snap, Mohan focused on rebuilding the company’s advertising platform around performance, making direct-response advertising a central part of the business and delivering measurable outcomes for advertisers.
India emerged as an important growth market for Snapchat during his tenure. The platform crossed 250 million monthly active users in the country in 2025, while India became Snap’s second-largest augmented reality developer market globally. The leadership change comes alongside a broader internal reorganisation at Snap, with the company placing greater emphasis on engineering and advertising products. Snap’s revenue grew 19% year on year in the second quarter of 2026 as its global user base approached one billion. The company is also preparing to showcase Specs, its augmented reality glasses, to consumers.
Before Snap, Mohan led Meta’s India business for almost four years. Earlier, he was the founding CEO of Hotstar, where he helped build the streaming platform into one of India’s leading digital entertainment services. Mohan has not announced his next professional move. He said he may write a book, make movies or explore artificial intelligence, but plans to take a break for now. He will continue to back Snap as a shareholder.
