Applied Materials commits $5B to India semiconductor push
The US chip equipment major is planning a 140-acre advanced research park, a 10X expansion of its India supply-chain capacity, and a doubling of its R&D workforce by 2035.
Applied Materials will invest $5 billion in India over the next decade as part of a broader push to deepen semiconductor R&D and integrate the country more closely into the global chip supply chain.
Announcing the plan at SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi, Dr Prabu Raja, President of Semiconductor Products Group at Applied Materials, said the company plans to build a 140-acre advanced semiconductor research park, grow its India-based supply-chain capacity 10X, and double its R&D workforce by 2035.
