China’s AI labs siphoned Claude’s intelligence?
Anthropic’s report reveals that major Chinese AI developers operated illicit proxy networks to harvest Claude’s reasoning capabilities, unintentionally leaking sensitive military, government, and corporate secrets in the process.
Dear Reader,
Anthropic’s latest report alleges that seven Chinese AI labs used fraudulent accounts, proxy networks, and other techniques to extract capabilities from its Claude models. Alibaba reportedly generated over 151 million exchanges to train Qwen, while Moonshot AI and DeepSeek allegedly routed millions of user queries to Claude, exposing sensitive government, military and corporate data to US servers.
Meanwhile, OpenAI has temporarily paused new subscriptions to its $200-a-month Pro plan after demand for its newly-launched Astra AI model exceeded the company’s expectations. The surge in usage has reportedly put pressure on OpenAI’s computing capacity, prompting it to limit new Pro sign-ups while it works to accommodate demand. Astra, launched earlier this month, is available across OpenAI’s paid plans and is positioned as a more capable model for tasks including coding and computer use.
On the domestic front, Hero Motors is set to launch its Rs 1,000 crore IPO next week, with the two-wheeler components maker looking to raise fresh capital as well as provide an exit to existing shareholders.

Anthropic report flags offline execution risks

In its September 2026 Threat Intelligence Report, Anthropic highlighted a critical structural vulnerability in current AI safety frameworks. While suspending or banning cloud accounts remains the primary defense for AI providers, it is becoming an incomplete remedy. The report reveals that once an AI model generates offline software, firmware, or standalone execution scripts, these digital artifacts continue to operate in the physical world completely beyond the reach of cloud-level bans or provider interventions.
Key takeaways:
- Compiled software—like Russian drone swarm scripts, Yemeni missile tools, and Malian surveillance code—continues operating locally in physical systems long after developers' cloud accounts are blocked.
- Threat actors use agentic AI frameworks that automatically rewrite and recompile blocked malware code on the fly to continually bypass detection systems.
- Advanced AI coding capabilities enable single, low-resourced operators to run complex, state-grade cyberattacks and hardware exploits previously requiring whole organisations.
