Tazapay to be acquired by Circle in $400M stock deal
US-based Circle Internet Group will strengthen its position in the APAC region following the acquisition of Tazapay.
Global financial technology company and USDC issuer Circle Internet Group has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Singapore-based B2B cross-border payments infrastructure provider Tazapay, in a move to expand its payments network across APAC and emerging markets.
The transaction is expected to close in 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Tazapay provides payment infrastructure to payment service providers and financial institutions, and processes more than $25 billion in annualised payment volume. It has partnerships with over 60 banks and fintech companies, with local payout rails spanning more than 100 markets. Stablecoins already account for around 60% of its transaction volume.
The acquisition will expand Circle’s ability to originate and terminate cross-border payments through USDC, with the company targeting near-instant, 24/7 settlement.
“Stablecoin settlement is becoming core infrastructure in the global economy, and combining USDC with Tazapay’s world-class banking relationships, local payout rails, and institutional customer base will accelerate worldwide USDC adoption,” said Jeremy Allaire, Co-Founder, CEO and Chairman of Circle.
Circle said Tazapay has been a design partner for its Circle Payments Network since 2025, with both companies sharing a focus on building infrastructure for global digital finance.
Irfan Ganchi, Senior Vice President of Payments at Circle, said the acquisition would strengthen the company’s reach across APAC and emerging markets, where demand for USDC-denominated transactions is growing.
Rahul Shinghal, Co-Founder and CEO of Tazapay, said the company was built to make cross-border payments faster and reduce reliance on banking rails that may not operate at the pace required by global commerce.
“Circle has the dollar infrastructure in USDC and the regulatory standing to take what we've built further than we could alone,” Shinghal said.
Circle said Tazapay customers should not expect disruption to existing services, APIs, pricing or customer support as a result of the transaction.
