Kalaari Capital opens applications for investor fellowship programme
The fellowship programme provides participants exposure to different aspects of venture investing and helps build their analytical, research and writing capabilities.
Early-stage venture capital firm Kalaari Capital has opened applications for the latest cohort of its Kalaari Fellowship, a two-year, full-time apprenticeship programme aimed at developing talent for India’s venture capital and startup ecosystem.
The fellowship is targeted at self-driven individuals with an understanding of frontier technologies and a problem-solving mindset. It seeks to provide participants with exposure to different aspects of venture investing while they build their analytical, research and writing capabilities.
According to Kalaari, India’s emergence as a product nation and its ambition to build sovereign technologies are creating opportunities for startups to develop intellectual property. The firm believes this evolving ecosystem will require not only entrepreneurs but also researchers, investors, operators, and other professionals who can support technology companies.
The programme combines structured training with practical experience. During the fellowship, participants work across areas including investment analysis, research, startup sourcing, portfolio analysis, thematic reports, and organisational initiatives.
The first year focuses on developing analytical rigour through systematic training, while the second year places fellows closer to deal-making activities and relationships with startup founders.
Fellows also contribute to Kalaari’s research reports and content initiatives, providing them an opportunity to develop perspectives on industries and emerging technology trends.
Kalaari said four batches have completed the fellowship so far, with each cohort comprising 10 to 15 fellows. Alumni from the programme have subsequently pursued careers as investors, founders and operators at leading firms.
The venture capital firm said it created the fellowship to provide access to an industry that can otherwise be difficult to enter and to develop the next generation of investment professionals.
The initiative comes as India’s expanding startup and technology ecosystem continues to create demand for professionals with expertise in evaluating emerging technologies, identifying investment opportunities and working closely with founders.
Applications for the programme will close on September 27, 2026.
