Vara Kumar appointed Whatfix CEO
Kumar assumes leadership following the death of Co-founder Khadim Batti on September 1, 2026. Batti had served as CEO since the pair established the business in 2014.
Digital adoption software vendor Whatfix named Co-founder Vara Kumar as its Chief Executive Officer, on Tuesday.

Since co-founding the firm, Kumar has directed the organisation's product engineering and research roadmaps. In his expanded position as chief executive, he assumes responsibility for global corporate operations and technology strategy.
"Over the past twelve years, we built Whatfix on a shared conviction that technology should empower people, not stand in their way," Kumar stated in a corporate announcement. "As I step into the role of CEO, our executive leadership team and I remain deeply committed to realising that vision, supporting our global customers and partners, and building an enterprise anchored in strong fundamentals."
Company representatives stated that the executive management team and board of directors will maintain ongoing business operations without disruption across all regions.
Headquartered in Bengaluru and San Jose, Whatfix develops an enterprise platform designed to assist employees with software workflows through contextual step-by-step instructions, automated processes, and usage analytics. The system utilises an underlying technology called ScreenSense to interpret user intent and identify operational bottlenecks within desktop and web applications.
According to company data, Whatfix supports a client base exceeding 600 organisations worldwide. Its corporate customer list includes more than 80 Fortune 500 entities, such as Shell, Schneider Electric, Mercedes-Benz, Heineken, and UPS Supply Chain Solutions. The vendor operates offices across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Australia.
The company has so far secured capital investments from Warburg Pincus, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Dragoneer Investment Group, Peak XV Partners, Eight Roads Ventures, and Cisco Investments. In its most recent private funding transaction in 2024, Warburg Pincus spearheaded a $125 million investment round in Whatfix.
