Salesforce and Anthropic want Claude to run your CRM
Salesforce is giving Claude a bigger role. The expanded partnership brings Anthropic's AI into workflows, Slack and more.
CRM work may soon feel less like filling forms and more like having a conversation. Salesforce and Anthropic have expanded their partnership with Claudeforce, bringing Claude’s AI reasoning into Salesforce’s customer relationship management platform.
The idea is to let businesses use Claude not just to find information but also to work with customer data, sales workflows, approvals, and business rules within Salesforce.
Claude gets a seat at the sales table
The partnership launches with Salesforce in Claude, a plugin designed for sales teams and customer-facing agents. It comes with 37 prebuilt sales skills covering tasks such as meeting preparation, deal health checks and pipeline reviews.
A salesperson could ask Claude to analyse revenue data, prepare for a customer meeting or update pipeline information without jumping between different tools. Salesforce says the experience is built on AIforce, its enterprise framework for connecting business data and workflows with AI agents.
The important part for businesses is that Claude can work with relevant Salesforce information while operating within existing permissions and governance rules.
Claude is also coming into Salesforce and Slack
The partnership works both ways. Claude is available inside Agentforce, Salesforce’s platform for building and running AI agents. It will act as a reasoning model for the Atlas Reasoning Engine and power products including Agentforce Vibes and Agentforce Coworker by default.
Developers will also be able to use it in Agent Builder. Then there is Slack. Salesforce plans to embed Claude into Slack so teams can move from discussing a task to actually completing it without leaving the workspace. Claude will also be the default model for Slack AI and Slackbot.
That gives Anthropic’s model a much bigger role across Salesforce’s workplace software.
The real challenge is letting AI take action
Getting an AI to answer a question is one thing. Letting it change customer records or trigger business processes is another. That is where the partnership’s governance layer becomes important.
Salesforce says actions taken through Salesforce in Claude will be routed through Salesforce, allowing existing business rules to remain in place. For companies, that means AI can potentially do more without completely changing how permissions, approvals and controls work.
What happens next?
Salesforce in Claude is currently available to select pilot customers and is expected to enter open beta in September 2026. More prebuilt skills are planned from late 2026. The bigger idea behind Claudeforce is that CRM software may no longer be somewhere employees have to constantly go and update.
Instead, the AI could increasingly become the layer through which they work with customer information, sales and everyday business tasks.
