The fifth Anniversary Edition of Jeep Compass remains mechanically unchanged from its regular sibling, with changes limited to cosmetics and features.

Jeep Compass celebrates 5 years in India with Anniversary Edition

Wednesday August 17, 2022 , 3 min Read

Jeep has rolled out a special Anniversary Edition of Compass on the occasion of the SUV completing five years in the Indian market. The American car brand entered the Indian market in 2017 by launching Compass as its entry-level model. The SUV received a mid-cycle facelift in early 2021.

Prices of the new Anniversary Edition of Compass start at Rs 24.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The company has started accepting bookings for the mid-size SUV across the country via its dealerships and official website. The latest iteration of Compass features some distinct cosmetic and feature upgrades that separate it from the rest of the Compass lineup.

Exterior design

The fifth Anniversary Edition of Compass wears a special colour scheme with a body-coloured front bumper finished in Satin Granite Crystal. The same treatment has been carried forward to the 18-inch alloy wheels although their design remains similar to the regular Compass. The radiator grille up front gets a gloss black finish whereas grey wing mirrors have replaced the standard black units.

Claddings wrapped around the wheel arches and door sills along the side profile are also body-coloured. The dual-tone paint with a black roof and pillars accompanied by contrasting accent colour roof rails accentuate the SUV’s sporty appearance. At the rear, things remain fairly identical to the standard Compass, the only difference being the addition of the 5th Anniversary badging on the tailgate.

Updated interiors and features

Compass has always been a feature-heavy vehicle, especially in its top-spec trims. Inside the cabin, this special edition model sports an all-black colour scheme with piano black and Anodized GunMetal interior accents on the dashboard and interior door trims along with a black headliner. Despite not being based on the top-spec trim, the fifth Anniversary Edition of Compass is well loaded with features.

Some of the feature highlights include auto LED headlamps, a panoramic sunroof, a 7-inch driver’s display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an auto-dimming IRVM and a powered tailgate. Safety features on offer include six airbags, a traction control system, electronic stability control, hill start assist, reverse parking camera, and electronic roll mitigation.

Powertrain specs

Jeep is offering the Anniversary Edition of Compass in both petrol and diesel powertrains. The former is a familiar 1.4-litre turbocharged unit that churns out 161 bhp at 5,500rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. This engine is paired exclusively with a seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

The oil burner, on the other hand, is a 2.0-litre Multijet unit that kicks out 168 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm. This power mill is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a nine-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The diesel manual variant comes in a 4x2 configuration whereas the diesel automatic variant gets a 4x4 drivetrain.
