Kia brings out sportier X-Line variants of Sonet, priced at Rs 13.39 lakh

A similar strategy is followed by Kia’s sister brand–Hyundai for its N-Line models

Kia brings out sportier X-Line variants of Sonet, priced at Rs 13.39 lakh

Kia Motors has rolled out a new X-Line derivative of Sonet in India, with prices starting at Rs 13.39 lakh (ex-showroom). In line with the X-Line trim of Kia Seltos launched in September last year, the Sonet X-Line features a similar set of visual updates on its exterior as well as its interior.

Sonet X-Line is based on the top-spec GTX+ trim of the subcompact SUV, making it the new range-topping model in the Sonet lineup. It is available in both petrol and diesel variants, the latter being priced at Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Exterior styling updates

While the overall design is identical to the regular Sonet, the new Sonet X-Line gets aesthetic upgrades, making it sportier than the rest of its siblings. The familiar Tiger Nose radiator grille gets gloss black internals that blends nicely with the matte graphite paint scheme in the background.

Fog lamps are encased within dark chrome bezels whereas wing mirror caps are also given a gloss black treatment. Further, the piano black finish on the front and rear faux skid plates with silver metal accents provide a nice contrast to the aesthetics. Adding more contrast to the overall styling is the chrome package including chrome door handles and chrome trims along the window and door sills.

Dual-tone crystal cut alloy wheels

The X-Line Sonet rolls on 16-inch dual-tone crystal cut alloy wheels with a black high gloss finish which are unique to this trim. In comparison to the red-coloured brake callipers in the standard GT variants, the ones on the X-Line trim are wrapped in a silver shade. Other exterior visual highlights include a matte finish for the shark-fin antenna, piano black treatment on dual exhaust tips and the X-Line emblem on the tailgate.

Sporty Interiors

Sporty aesthetics of the exterior have been carried forward inside the cabin too. Wrapped in Xclusive Splendid Sage Dual Tone Interior theme, the X-Line gets sport seats with contrast orange stitching and the X-Line logo. This shade blends well with a black headliner, amplifying the cabin’s premium appeal.

Orange stitching is seen on the leatherette-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel as well as door pads. As for features, it comes with the same set of bells and whistles as the fully-loaded GT+ trim.

Safety features on offer include six airbags, traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), brake assist, hill start assist and more.

Powertrain specs

Sonet X-Line is being offered with the options of a 1.0-litre GDi turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel motor. The former dishes out 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque while being paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the oil burner is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and pumps out 114 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque.
