Their controlled environment facilities reduce water consumption and eliminate pesticides, reducing their impact on the planet. AppHarvest has created a framework to sell and distribute their fruits and veggies to the top 25 grocers nationally and bring a significant amount of agricultural production back to the United States. Located within a day’s drive of 70% of the U.S. population, their base in Appalachia allows them to pick their fruits and veggies when they’re ripe and reduce diesel use in transportation by 80%.
