JIWYA is born out of the need to disrupt the world of textiles and fashion. They are two textile scientists who took it upon themselves to create a venture that shoulders on true sustainability, and not greenwashing claims. Having seen the insides of the textile world and what goes into fashion, having tried to change it, they finally decided to lead by example. They moved from the US to India, travelled 19000 kms, 19 states and almost 200 cities to meet India's grassroot clusters. People who knew the ways of using plants for fibers, yarns, colours and not rely on fossil fuel based polyester yarns or synthetic colours. It took us a year to streamline the supply chain, get 100+ artists to create plant based artisanal fabrics and lastly, curate designs to make timeless fashion- showcasing at least two Indian textile arts in each design. That is JIWYA- purely plant based, artisanal and singular design, created by two textile scientists, as a transparent, zero waste and ethical fashion brand.
