Founded in 2023 by IIT Madras alumni, the company emerged from the team's earlier work on Avishkar Hyperloop and autonomous drone swarms, where they identified limitations in existing GNSS infrastructure for high-precision and autonomous applications. VyomIC's satellite architecture is designed to deliver centimeter-level positioning and nanosecond-level timing using onboard atomic clocks, precise orbit determination, inter-satellite links, software-defined radios, and authenticated and encrypted navigation signals. Its LEO-based approach is intended to provide stronger signals, improved resilience against jamming and spoofing, and reduced dependence on extensive ground infrastructure or foreign-controlled navigation systems. The company's PNT technology targets autonomous systems, defence and military applications, aviation, maritime navigation, precision agriculture, surveying and mapping, telecom and 5G networks, data centers, financial systems, power grids, railways, and critical infrastructure. Its customers can include drone companies, autonomous-vehicle manufacturers, telecom providers, power-grid operators, precision-agriculture companies, and financial institutions. VyomIC aims to build sovereign and resilient navigation infrastructure from India for global markets, providing an alternative or complement to existing GNSS systems such as GPS and GLONASS. The company has raised $1.6 million in pre-seed funding to advance its LEO-PNT technology and constellation development.
